Stories of Great Women Warriors
Thoroughly researched with a wide range of excellent sources, this collection of true stories by Bonnie Tsui validates what Civil War historians have been asserting for years: hundreds of brave women enlisted and fought for what they believed in on the bloodiest battlefields of the bloodiest war in American history.

Would have liked a better Amazon description
Expected more indepth by Amazon description. Once I purchased the book the author stated that is was an introduction to the subject. Very generalize and, as suspected, the stories were very similar.

Reads like a class paper
I should have listened to the other reviewers before purchasing this book. The information in the book is gleaned from other notable writers of the Civil War, and doesn't provide any new information, only rather a synopsis from those other writings on the same subject - even the photographs used are from those other books. This reads like a class assignment about the Civil War, something with which I am well familiar as I am pursuing an M.A. in History. Stick with the noted authors like McPherson, Faust, etc., for this type of information.

A really good read
I chose this rating as the book was well written and included in history the role that women played during the American Civil War, wether they be soldiers, spies or medical people. Enjoyed it thoroughly

good overview
This is a pretty good overview of women who took part in the American Civil War. It's not just about those women who disguised themselves as men to fight, but also daughters of the regiment, nurses and spies. It's an easy read and draws on many resources including diaries, letters and journals. There is a good bibliography too for follow up reading.
