super - amazing - but not perfect - Denon AVR-X1800H 7.2 Channel AV Receiver
super - amazing - but not perfect - Denon AVR-X1800H 7.2 Channel AV Receiver - 80W/Channel, Wireless Streaming via Built-in HEOS, WiFi, & Bluetooth, Supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dynamic HDR, and Home Automation Systems - There are many aspects of the Denon AVR-X1800H Receiver that are amazing. However, the Denon AVR-X1800H Receiver does exhibit some flaws. Despite the flaws, the Denon AVR line of receivers is probably the most practical option available. - setup - the on screen setup, using HDMI to an HDTV, with speaker testing is amazing! - audyssey - I could not get the Denon Audyssey system to produce anything that approached a reasonable experience. I disabled that feature. With audyssey disabled, I have been able to fine tune a wonderful sonic experience. - HDMI passthrough - as wonderful as this feature ought to be, it turns out that it is terrible. First of all, it demands to try to "upscale" all inputs, to a minimum of 2160p. With several computers that I want to display on my big HDTV, including a home data archival server, running the HDMI output from the computer through the Denon creates a completely distorted looking result. It's visually atrocious. - web interface remote control - this is a GREAT feature. Most importantly, the Denon can be controlled directly from any computer by finding the IP address of the Denon on the LAN and simply pointing to it. This is amazing! - Android / iOS remote control - the control interface via the Android OS app is the best and easiest way to operate, control, and adjust the receiver! - sound quality - super overall - running a 7.1 channel setup, using Monolith brand speaks I also purchased on amazon, the surround sound experience is extraordinary. Using the Android or Web interface, I can adjust the levels of individual speakers to fine tune the sonic experience for each movie. The speakers are: Monolith T5 pair front - Monolith T4 pair rear - Monolith D5 front center - vintage (1984) Klipsch KG4 pair secondary front - ELAC SUB1225 Subwoofer. - note - the Denon AVR-X1800H is actually in the middle of the range or the similar receivers that Denon markets. However at this price level the Denon AVR-X1800H already provides what most people need. The addition AVR-X4800H AVR-X5800H AVR-X6800H provide more channels, and more "power", but they seem to maintain similar features. - Heos - have not used it and do not need it. I play all music via an HTPC dedicated computer running vlc media player, iTunes, Kodi, and so on HDMI erac output into the Denon for audio output. - conclusion - overall, except for the nearly unusable HDMI passthrough feature, the Denon AVR-X1800H is delightful. -

Works and sounds great
The perfect amp for any home system. Bought on a recommendation from wire-cutter. It sounds fantastic, works flawlessly. I have it wired into HomeAssistant for more control.

Worked as advertised.
I already had a 5.1 speaker setup so swapping out the old Sony system for the Denon AVR-X1800H was easy. The output per channel was 100w per channel on the old Sony, while the Denon is 80w per channel. Still, it's more than loud enough to crank to a respectable level. I had an initial video drop out on my media device, but that was caused by an HDMI cable that wasn't marked and not fast enough. I ordered HDMI Ultra cables. They are not that expensive, and I don't know why they don't include one with the receiver. It was packaged well. Of course, it looked like it was dropped on its corner but didn't appear to receive damage. Let's hope this unit lasts15 or more years like the preceding AV receiver. Oh, I almost forgot, the speaker calibration is very cool. It's nice that the levels are set automatically. You can test by running HDR, Dolby Atmos, etc. from YouTube. The quality sounds great!

Do Not Buy Denon Products
In search of a new A/V receiver, I sought recommendations from my friend, a professional custom home theater installer. He strongly suggested a Denon model, citing its exceptional quality and robust customer support. Regrettably, my experience with this receiver has been diametrically opposed. Upon connecting all components and completing the setup instructions, the unit commenced malfunctioning immediately. Subsequently, when all components were shutoff after I finished watching a program, the receiver turned itself back on. Occasionally, it would also turn on the TV too. Fortunately, I was present during these occurrences. I contacted Denon support, providing a comprehensive description of the issue, including the steps I had taken to resolve it, which entailed restoring the unit to its factory settings. Regrettably, the support representative was unable to provide any information regarding the underlying cause of the problem or offer a solution. When I informed him of my option to return the unit until January 31, 2026, his response was that this may be the most appropriate course of action. Upon looking at reviews of this receiver and Denon receivers in general, this has been an ongoing issue for some time. Therefore, I would not recommend purchasing Denon products.

Good TV receiver with HD GUI setup menu for Hisense tv
Good receiver. Replaciinng Onkyo TX-NR696 because no on screen display of setup on Hisense U8N tv. Also it was not driving my subwoofer. The Denon AVR-X1800H works good after setup. Needed to call Denon to configure correctly to 5.1.2 dolby atmos. Setup menu HD and works with the Hisense tv good. Only downside is that on ARC with tv Google tv volume level not reported on receiver's display. Only does Volume level on screen when selecting HDMI port on receiver. Wish it had audio chrome cast built-in like the Onkyo. Sounds great and drives my subwoofer so much had to turn down the gain on the subwoofer.

Good receiver, with some caveats.
I bought the X1800h to replace my old Sony STR-DH790 that I've been using and been happy with since 2018. The Sony sounded great, but was not energy star compliant (50w power draw idle, even when "off") and the video inputs were falling behind and causing me HDCP issues. The Denon X1800h was a solid purchase. Video has been great, e-ARC passthrough works perfectly, and my TV even detects receiver input changes and switches video modes between standard/game mode/etc. automatically, which the Sony didn't do. The UI is good, but setup was kind of a pain and there's a lot of submenus to dig through. Despite the hype around the Audyssey XT sound correction, in the end to get good sound out of it, I had to just turn off all the features, buy the mobile app for another $20 to disable the mid-range dip, and then manually tune each channel, which defeats the purpose of having built-in room correction. And even after all that, I think I was still happier with the Sony's sound overall. This is a really good AV receiver, and the video/gaming passthrough and features are top notch, but it leaves a bit to be desired in the sound department unless you're willing to really dig into the settings and manually adjust over days. I also like that you can set volume control to decibel levels instead of generic numbers. Though in actually adjusting volume, the remote is a mess, and tapping volume up or down a few times makes it jump by many steps, and fine adjustment is slow or awkward. I'll miss the Sony, but time marches on. Also, I won't miss the power draw. This one only pulls 2 watts when off, which saves a ton on electric over time (literally almost 1.2 kilowatts daily).

Great receiver at a great price!
I purchased this recently on a really good sale and I'm glad I did!! This is replacing my older Denon receiver (AVR-S740H) which isn't that old and still works fine. The new Denon (X-1800H) has some newer features including 8K/4K 120Hz which made it worth the upgrade. Setup on this Denon is so much easier than the older one. I had this up and running in about 10 minutes after connecting everything. Switching and scaling seem to be working better on the new Denon as well. All I need to do now is to run the calibration and my office 5.1.2 atmos sytem will be ready to rock!

No 12v trigger
Great AVR, no 12v trigger though. The unit has front rt/lft pre outs for external amplifier but no 12v trigger. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to have the ability to add an amp with no way to control power to it?

Great receiver.
Upgraded from my old Denon which I loved but was not 4k. Put this receiver into use and there was no comparison. Sound was much more full and sound stage improved. Heos works great and a phono stage as well. Very worth the money. Complexity in sound quality but simple in use. Love it.

Calidad confiable a buen precio

Great AVR, But Comes as 110V — Beware Before Plugging In!
I received my Denon AVR-X1800H with a shocking surprise — the unit requires 110V, while here in the UAE we use 240V. There was no communication from the seller about this. Normally we plug and play as received, but fortunately I checked the back panel out of excitement and noticed the 110V label. If I had plugged it in directly, the AVR would have burned instantly, and I would have lost the manufacturer warranty. This is serious negligence from the seller. I had to spend extra money to buy a voltage converter just to use the product. For future buyers: Be aware that you must purchase a step-down voltage converter to safely use this AVR in the UAE. The AVR itself is excellent, very easy to use, and I’m running it with a Klipsch 5.2.2 setup — the performance is amazing. Product: 5/5 Seller communication: 1/5
