if you like big pens, this one is for you
the jinhao 9019. man, what a huge pen! i love huge pens! this feels so good in my hand, big, comfortable and fairly light for it's size. it runs via converter and true to form, this converter is huge. i don't know how much ink it holds but lets just say...a lot. i chose a pen in the wine red color with a M nib. the steel nib is 2 tone and the entire pen is very attractive and this maroon color is perfect for it. a nice change from the traditional black color you see on classic cigar shaped pens.so, how does it write? honestly, getting the pen going was a chore. i sent the first one back and a replacement was sent out that same day. the second one didn't start off writing well either. the ink was fading in and out but i kept writing with it. soon after, things changed. the pen started to write perfectly. i had a nice ink flow and the nib was very smooth. on my pen, the medium nib writes more like a generous fine. and they don't come wearing a broad nib. but still, i absolutely love this pen. it's slowly replacing my daily driver, the mb 149, as my everyday pen. at the $13 price point, this pen is an incredible value. and it's my first steel nibbed fountain pen. it continues to surprise me on how well it writes. i would recommend this pen without hesitation to anyone...experienced fountain pen geeks to people wanting a low cost way to try fountain pens for the first time, as long as you can handle a giant pen, do yourself a favor and look no further and try this one. you're gonna be so happy you did. oh, full disclosure, i actually bought 2. the second one has a fine nib and is the clear demonstrator style pen. yep, i like this one also.

UPDATED: REPLACEMENT WORKS GREAT!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this pen and got a defective one at first. It wouldn't write very well so Amazon replaced it and the second one worked amazing well! The second one worked perfectly! Now I can tell you what I actually like about this pen!I got this pen to replace the pilot G2 gel pens which I had been using for years. They cost over $40 for 36 pens in the bulk carton. And I felt this was leaving too much of a footprint for the landfills so I opted to try for fountain pens. This pen actually does write like a 1.0 gel pen! The medium nib lines come out nice and thick and bold the way I like them. With this replacement pen (same model as the first one) I get the quality I am looking for. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:Writes steadily and continuously without a flaw.It can keep up with my fast writing or doodlesThere is no skipping or scratching observed with this replacement. The neck of the pen is nice and thick like the barrel. On some fountain pens they narrow down above the nib and contribute to sore fingers if you are writing a lot. This pen has a nice wide shank and I do not get sore or cramped writing many pages of script. The weight and balance of this pen is amazing! Carries its own weight so to speak and makes writing flow easy.It also shows very good line work on drawings and I think it is a good drawing pen.It has a generous converter size.It takes Jinhao and Hong Dian refillable cartridges. It also has a twist plunger type converter that holds lots of ink and is easy to refill straight from the ink bottle. You do not have to siphon it through the nib! No clean up to worry about!Right now I also use Parker fountain pen ink and it works fantastic with this pen.I like the screw on cap but some people may not appreciate this feature. Now about the cons, it really isn't fair to judge what it doesn't have. So there are no real cons with this pen. But if I had to make a statement of preferences, it would be that it does not come with a case but comes in a plastic sleeve in a paper bag.It does not have a snap- on cap but a screw on and that seems to be a pet peeve of some fountain pen connoisseurs. Personally, the screw on cap helps remind me to be cognizant of recapping it so the ink will not dry out. I just hope the threads do not wear out over the years. Nonetheless, I would not hesitate to buy this or recommend it again to others. All together, I'm very pleased with this pen.UPDATE: 12/18/23: The pen is a real workhorse!I have been writing for days with this pen and it never quits! The converter holds triple the ink as the cartridges! The converter is used by siphoning ink directly from the ink bottle. It does not need to be drawn through the nib as some other fountain pens. This means there is no cleanup on the nib to worry about. I have written so many pages and done some drawing with the pen and it is amazing! I took it down to a art store that sells fountain pens and had some of my employee friends use it and they were pretty amazed by it.So! I have bought three more. I bought an additional transparent wine colored and it works fantastic as well. So I bought an additional transparent wine color and also a solid black and gold of this same model. That makes four so far. I bought extras for my different uses and wanted to be able to have one that travels with me.To me, for the price, It is a great deal! It makes a nice respectable gift to anyone who appreciates journal writing, drawing, and fountain pens.See my video.

Fantastic value pen
Jinhao pens keep getting better and better. OK, many (most) of the designs are copies of well-known pen styles. Any pen enthusiast knows this and doesn't think they're buying a $700 pen for $10 - so lets get that argument off the table. The good: Nice color (I have it inked with Private Reserve Blue Suede - which matches the pen). Huge (may be a dislike for some - I have big hands). Massive converter inside. Holds gobs of ink. Seals well. I have had 9019s inked for 5 months (so far) without them drying out or even hard-starting. #8 nib! Writes way better that it should at that price. I now have 6 9019s, 4 9016s and a couple 9013s. Great pens for the money. Recommended.

“importante”

Jinhao fountain pens are huge!
I have a number of fountain pens. Jinhao ones are huge pens. This one feels plasticky. The ink well rattles inside the pen.On a plus side, it's light and easy to hold.

Curti o produto
O conversor é o diferencial! Fora o preço e o estilo da caneta. Infelizmente todo tipo de encomenda advinda do exterior é taxada pelo governo do amor, fora isso acho que a caneta é um achado em tanto. Recomendo!!!!! Testado e aprovado.

Wonderful Pen.
Beautiful large sized cigar shaped pen, probably based on classics like the Montblanc 149. Large capacity, big nib, hard and smooth resin body. Very good value.Pen came with some ink in the nib, but it may have just been QC so I'm not bothered. Usually clean out Jinhao's before I use them.
