Worked as expected - used for home networking testing wire down 3 floors from top to basement. There were multiple wires coming into a network closet in the basement (8+) Ethernet, was able to trace a single room wire in the bundle and wire it correctly for use. Tone was loud and clear. Honestly, as someone who used to wire buildings and had Fluke equipment, this is a dang good cheap option. I was impressed. It's cheap and works.

These tools are invaluable for tracing Ethernet cables in my home. I removed the old style breadboard PC-board cabling terminations and added a switch in its place. This is the only way to trace where the ends are wall terminated. It also has a check for wire orientation when terminating the wring when using crimp on Ethernet cable ends.

Cheaply built and unreliable

These worked perfectly for running the wires around the house. The price made it very appealing the fact that they worked so well was truly a pleasure. The beeps were loud through the receiver and it was accurate finding the exact wires I was searching for amongst the bundle.

When purchasing this item, I was concerned there was only an ear jack for audible responses, it din not mention speaker and one did not show in the pics. There is a speaker and the wire tester. Previously I had two tools that did these functions. And the cost of this is less than either from before. Great value!

did it's job

My fault for buying this just because I needed it overnight. Cheap housing with ragged edges where the casing comes together. Buttons are loose and don't activate. And just plain didn't work. A great example of a terrible example of cheap manufacturing.
