Westmark Germany 'New York' Glass Sugar Dispenser, Stainless Steel

Dad saw one of these premeasuring sugar dispensers in a restaurant and thought he would like one. This one had the best reviews, so we gave it a try. It works great, though we were concerned about the sugar getting hard and clumping. We haven’t had it long enough to know for sure, but it hasn’t clumped in the week we have had it.

Love these dispensers. I use one for Raw Sugar and one for Splenda. While the dispersal measurements aren’t exact, it is relatively easy to determine the amount dispensed for my coffee, tea, etc. I found no difficulty in filling them, however the first time or two used after filling will likely dispense more than normal due to the fact that you have pushed the fill tube through the sugar, etc and it has become packed full upon filling container and screwing the lid back on. Additionally, these could be used for dry creamer, however, could become clogged from pouring over hot liquids like coffee or tea. If clogging is a problem, try adding sugar, creamer, etc to your cup BEFORE you add your coffee or tea. Some of the reviews I read, mentioned moisture or possibly even small insects getting into tube as there is no plug. I solved this by gently inserting a small cork into the top of each tube to seal contents. The corks fit tight enough to seal and yet are easily removed to use dispenser. You could also check your local hardware store to possibly find small caps to use instead. I rally like these dispensers and they look equally nice on my counter or table.

This works well for me, I use Splenda instead of sugar and because Splenda is fluffier and lighter than sugar, it tends to absorb a little moisture but still works very well. Because it's open I store it in my coffee cabinet and not on a counter for fear that ants or other bugs could be drawn to it. It is well made.

We’ve had this over 3 years with no issues. (Watch video for tips) we like that it gives you exact portions of sugar each time making it quick and easy to use. When it gets low on sugar it will dispense less sugar each pour. To combat that we either do more pours or just fill it back up when it gets that low.

I like how sturdy the glass is. I tested the measure and it's about 1.5 tsp. There's a trick to it, though. You have to quickly turn it and then back, to get this measure. I didn't really buy it for the measure, though. We were in Germany and I liked how these looked and I couldn't find one in a store. I'm glad to have found this one. It's attractive and will serve its purpose well.

We had one of these when I was a kid, so I was very excited to find one on Amazon. Pluses; Measures the same amount of sugar every time, Fits easy in my little 7 inch long hands. Minuses; if you fill it more than 3/4 full sugar will just poor down the tube until the level falls below the bottom of the shoot cutout (this is true of all European style sugar dispensers), the metal shoot is sharp on the inside. I am delighted with the ease of use.

Well for starters it says Westmark Germany and its made in China, Technically it doesn't say made in germany however it seems dishonest. However lots of great things made in China this just isn't one of them. This thing seems to have a design flaw that while minor seems like it makes more work after all is said and done. I got this to easily dispense a small amount of sugar however the problem is if you get the smallest amount of steam or condensation inside the spout it makes the whole thing stop up. Only way to get it to work is to wash and dry it before using it again or it just gets stuck over and over. The icing on the cake of this not being a good product was they had very similar ones in my local dollar store. So not only is the design bad, I paid too much for it.

This portions out well, and as long as your sugar doesn't absorb too much moisture it comes out easily. My only issue is the lid. The threading on the lid is not properly matched with the threading on the glass. You have to really fight with it to get it to fit properly, and it still gets cross threaded easily. It's possible I just got a defective lid, but it is still an annoyance. Still usable, and I like the way it works, but the refilling is a pain.

Very nice product, it does dispense measured amounts when it is about 2/3 full but if it's fuller than that it just pours out.
