The alarm CANNOT be heard from basement to upstairs of a home
Although the alarm is essentially worthless if put on a different level of a home, I still think the alert on my phone is just fine. My dogs are afraid of alarm sounds, so it works for me. Easy to set up and was promptly delivered.

Great Canadian Product
The media could not be loaded. Update: 1 year later, this little device just saved us from wasting water and possibly, a big mess. We probably wouldn't have gone down to the basement for a few more days but while watching TV, we heard an alarm going that we did not recognize and all of a sudden, I get a notification on my Apple Watch and an email stating our Water Sensor has detected a leak. We ran downstairs and sure enough, water leaking from our hot water heater. THANK YOU Smartika!! This little tiny device just did it's job perfectly and saved us a large cleanup and some money. Definitely increasing from 4 stars to 5, this deserves it.This water sensor was incredibly easy to setup! With a push of a button on the sensor and the hub, you're done. While you do not require the hub to use this product, I do recommend it as the alarm sound is not loud enough. We placed the device beside our hot water heater, poured some water on the floor, then went upstairs where we could faintly hear the alarm. By having the hub you will receive notifications, as well.While researching Smartika, I found out they are Canadian which is a big plus!! No installation is required, no wires or plugs, it takes 2 AA batteries (which are included).

Great safety device
Great item. Quite small, about the size of a Hockey puck. Very well designed with 3 sets of sensitive electrodes on the bottom. If you have a smart phone and the proprietary hub to relay the signal from the Water Leak Sensor detector to your smart phone, then you could get alarm sent to your phone if there was a leak in your house. Me, I am old fashion and I do not have a smart phone. That device also works the old fashion way. It will emit a strident sound if it detects a leak. I must admit the sound could be louder....I am old and hard of hearing...:-)My house is also old and the basement have a few leaks that sprung out when the snow is melting too fast or if it is raining for too long. Also last year we had a very cold winter. One of the water pipe in my basement busted up and I woke up with 2 inches of water in my basement. It was a real mess. If I would have had such a device at that time, the damage would have been a lot less. Even if the alarm is not as loud as I would like, I am sure my dogs would have been restless and woke me up.

Great Piece Of Mind For The Cost However You Need The Smart Hub To Make This Really Useful....
Quick Review:We live in a small Hamlet where sumps are mandatory so this is incredibly helpful.Works without the Smart Hub however it is FAR too quiet to be really useful. Unless you happen to be real close to it, like right on top of it good luck ever hearing it!Now add the $40ish Smart Hub and the App to the equation and this really shines! Push a single button on each and they are paired.Then simply place the sensor wherever you need it and walk away...it is incredibly sensitive and passed all 5 tests I tried. I even tried putting it on a slightly moist sheet of paper and it immediately sent an alert to my phone. Even sends you an alert when the 2 AA batteries are low...NICE!Very compact and stylish...think I'll add a few more for the great piece of mind they offer!Would I recommend this product...For Sure!Nice job Smartika!

Very good investment for someone already in the Smartika ecosystem. Beeping isn't loud enough (so a Smartika hub is crucial)
For anyone with any other Smartika products, this is a really competitively priced water leak sensor considering you get email notifications which nothing else in this price range can offer. Without the hub, this only makes a noise that would be difficult to hear when on the ground floor... probably not the best choice in that case.It is very easy to set up and worked as advertised when I poured some water from a bottle.I like the peace of mind on the app - it will actually show you the status (monitoring) of the sensor so you know it is operating correctly and that you can rely on it when there is actually a problem.
