Test the OCV(Open Circuit Voltage). You can use the multi-meter to test the voltage. Standard voltage should be no less than 3.6V. If your battery is lower than 3.6V, please tell us. 2. Test loading voltage. The loading voltage should be around 3.2V. If your loading voltage is higher than 3.2V, the battery is in good condition. (Because of 10 year shelf life claim) The original battery lasted close to four years (low power consumption item) and the other collar is still green and good. And the recommend replacement batteries are 14250 with 3.6 volt . **Q: Where can i get a charger for it** A: These are non-rechargable, it says so in the description. **Q: Can the tabs be removed from the battery.? If so, how?** A: No, you cannot remove the tabs from the battery. If you need the battery without the tabs, please visit our Amazon Store or search EEMB ER14250.
