It is breathable and extremely durable and fluorocarbon free. With added BioCote® anti-microbial technology, treated surfaces will kill 99.9% of bacteria. I1 Smart Fabric AB makes ordinary fabrics waterproof and easy to clean. Use it to prevent soaking, swelling or rotting on any fabric. From sails, tents and awnings to your car’s soft top and interior. The nano particles of I1 coat each fabric fibre individually, leaving the texture unaffected, allowing the material to breathe. This means stale air will still be able to escape, while repelling water and oil-based liquids. I1 Smart Fabric is also colour safe so will not tarnish any finishes – but we do recommend testing a small area of fabric before use. Even more hydrophobic than its predecessor, I1 Smart Fabric V2 leaves no remnants of a spillage and moisture simply falls off a coated surface. Laboratory testing reveals that I1 V2 repels water to the highest standard set by the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) – ISO 5. Rigorous was testing reveals the Gtechniq fabric protection remains at its full performance level after being washed on a 40 degree cycle, and even after five washes still performs better than our original product. ## Features - Anti-bacterial and anti-mould - Fluorocarbon free - 6 to 18 Months durable water repellency - ›See more product details ## Images ![I1 Smart Fabric Protection for Cars. However GTECH last longer and repels water more effectively. Only challenge I had with it is the process of applying it, whereas Renovo you paint it on and the drying process is circa 1 hour to touch dry, GTECH has to be sprayed and becomes sticky in minutes. To compensate and in line with the instructions I soaked the fabric (over did it!) which resulted in some white marks on the fabric. So it takes practice to use, hence in recent past I have used Renovo which is easier apply. Will use it again but will apply less per covering and do a couple of coverings which of course is time consuming and extends the process - weather implications, etc. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Good product bad bottle *by I***K on 6 October 2018* To use this product you need a fine mist spray. Mine came out in one powerful jet stream (yes I did have it on the correct setting) and I had to spread it about extremely quickly to cover the whole surface. Luckily I was using it on my new trainers and not my brand new Mercedes seats otherwise I’d have been in big trouble. I bought a cheap olive oil sprayer and filled it with the smart fabric to do my car seats and this worked fine. Just make sure you protect other types of surface eg leather and wipe them thoroughly with a microfibre cloth afterwards to remove any over spray. Also wear a mask as stupidly I didn’t as my car doors were open but I had one of the worst headaches ever afterwards. The product works well and it does show once dry so don’t panic if you have a slightly dark patch. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great stuff, so many users *by N***L on 4 November 2018* This stuff is awesome for car cabriolet roof... Wash it, dry it.. Spray this on and it's seals and makes it look like new all year. Top up after year one. You can also spray it in new trainers to ensure they keep all the dirt and stuff out ... Nice ;) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/55046007-i1-smart-fabric-protection-for-cars-protects-from-spills-oil](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/55046007-i1-smart-fabric-protection-for-cars-protects-from-spills-oil) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-11-06*
