It was a present, they look great, very good quality, after many reviews I bought them. I recommend them. They are zero-drop shoes, meaning that they are great if you have shins pain or knee pain. The heel is low for that purpose. Your feet feel freer inside, they are meant to let the feet do the work rather than the shoe. I have a pair too, they are my rotation shoe for long easy jogs, but great for walking too.

This is one of the best pairs of running / walking shoes I've ever owned. The unique shape of Altra's shoes works really well for my feet as I have wide toes but a narrow heel. With most shoes, I usually end up either getting blisters on my heels or wearing my toes out of the side of the shoes - Altra's shoes fit my feet well, are comfortable, and don't wear out a month in from rubbing my toes on the sides.This is the first time I've ever seen a higher support shoe from Altra, and I'm very glad I found them. I've enjoyed their trail running shoes before, but they are very low support. I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis and have needed more support than the trail running shoes provide, and these were the perfect result. My current pair has already lasted many miles, and I fully expect to buy another pair as soon as they wear out.
