Item has been connected to a mini-PC and has been working fine. Today the PC, fortunately, was disconnected from the USB-C port but the power port was still connected to a power source and had been connected for around 2 hrs, so zero power draw. Suddenly I heard a crispy crackling sound and turned to see smoke from the disconnect USB-C side. I cannot imagine what might have happened if this happened when I was not around.
