YuanLey YS25-0402 with FlexOptic 10G BiDi — Perfect 10Gb Fibre Backbone Setup
I’m using the YuanLey YS25-0402, the model with 4× 2.5Gb ports and 2× 10Gb SFP+ uplinks, and I paired it with FlexOptic 10G BiDi LC transceivers programmed to MSA/Generic so any switch can use them. The setup worked instantly and far better than I expected. ✔️ 10Gb Optics Work Perfectly The moment I inserted the FlexOptic BiDi modules, the switch locked in at 10,000 Mbps full-duplex with zero problems. No vendor lock, no config, no negotiation issues — literally plug-and-play. The link is: Fully stable No flapping or drops No packet errors Runs cool Works flawlessly across floors For a budget unmanaged switch, the behaviour is honestly impressive. ✔️ Using It as a Home Fibre Backbone My setup uses a 60m run of bend-insensitive LC-UPC fibre to link my ground floor to my third floor. Ground Floor → Third Floor (10Gb BiDi Fibre): SFP+ Port 1 → FlexOptic BiDi (MSA/Generic) Single-strand fibre (BiDi saves one core) SFP+ Port 1 on the second switch → matching FlexOptic module Solid 10Gb link end-to-end On the third floor I feed: My PC via 2.5Gb PCIe My ASUS TUF-AX3000 V2 in AP mode (full 2.5Gb backhaul) Even with heavy transfers, the 10Gb backbone stays completely stable. ✔️ Real-World Performance Fibre backbone: 10Gb stable with <1ms latency PC gets full 2.5Gb AP delivers 900–1200 Mbps WiFi 6 in the same room No bottlenecks, no slowdowns The second SFP+ port also leaves room for upgrades (NAS, another floor, 10Gb server, etc.). ✔️ Final Verdict The YuanLey YS25-0402 + FlexOptic 10G BiDi LC (MSA/Generic) combo is honestly one of the best affordable multi-gig solutions you can build. You get: A real 10Gb optical backbone 2.5Gb multi-gig on each floor Full stability Universal optic compatibility Silent, cool, and completely plug-and-play For the price, the performance is on par with switches that cost 3× more. Highly recommended.

Best value 2.5Gb switches on the market
These Chinese brand 2.5Gb switches (all of which use Realtek 2.5Gb switch chips) are excellent. While not the very fastest in benchmarks (see: ServeTheHome), they are consistent and almost linespeed even with all ports fully loaded. They are solidly built, with a nice feeling metal casing that's painted very evenly. Connectivity is spot on, and most variants including this one incorporate one or two 10Gb SFP+. The mixed mode connectivity means I have two of them uplinked together with single mode fibre (BiDi). Mounting was easy - I wall mounted one and rack mounted the other with the (sturdy) included rack ears. Setup is plug and play, as these are L2 unmanaged switches. Even with PoE and SFP+ they run cold, no issues with functionality under load at all. Best value for money 2.5Gb switches on the market, in my opinion!

It just works
It just works straight out the box i have my router 2 pcs and my 3d printer all connected to this littke switch with no issues.... i bought 2 spf tranceivers to fill the empty ports and they also work without issue.... i get full 2.5G speed between my 2 pc's (one is a workstation and the other is for storage) the spf ports are 10G but my modules are only 2.5G so unable to confirm full potential... oh and my xbox works flawlessly through this switch.. I just usually use wifi for this as its not in the same room....

Great little switch
This is a great little switch. Easy to set up VLANs. Just works and a great price for what you get.

Seems great at first but sufferers from random packet loss after several hours of being used
I really wanted to like this switch. On paper, the YuanLey 2.5GbE switch (YS25-0502 in my case) seems like a great value, metal housing, silent operation, 2.5G speeds across all ports. But after a week or so of real-world use, it started showing serious issues. Devices connected through the switch started experiencing random packet loss, high latency, and noticeable lag — even when just browsing the web or doing local file transfers. I ran flood pings between two PCs connected via the switch and saw latency spikes of over 13 seconds, 4% packet loss, and wild jitter on what should have been a rock-solid wired LAN. When I removed the switch and connected the devices to my old 1gb TP Link switch, everything worked flawlessly again. It seems the switch either overheats under load, has power regulation issues, or suffers from unstable internal hardware, I can’t say for sure. But if you're relying on stable performance for DNS, gaming, or local services (like Pi-hole, AdGuard, or file sharing), this switch might let you down. I was 50/50 on if I should contact the manufacturer for a replacement but after these issues in such a short time I decided it was too much risk, so have returned to amazon for a refund. Sometimes things are just too good to be true and in this instance buying cheap was not worth it.

Great little unmanaged switch
I have upgraded my internet to 2GBPS. My router only has 1 x 10G output, so this little switch allows all of my wired network computers to receive the full internet speed. I have my lan extending through the house and then to 5G breakout points. One thing to note is this is an unmanaged switch. I have found that sometimes when I need to restart my router I must also reset this switch in the process.

Fast, silent and rock solid 2.5G switch
Excellent little switch. Plug-and-play, runs cool and silent, and all ports negotiate at 2.5GbE without fuss. The build feels sturdy, and it’s been completely stable with multiple devices. Great value for a 2.5G unmanaged switch.

For those that need or just want a configurable switch this works well and I’ve had no problems rubbing my internal network at 2.5Gb Works well - has the latest software and is easy to configure - at the price it’s good value and don’t get hot even though there’s no fan but the metal case sees to that
