CEC doesn't work
I have an apple TV 4k and a 2020 Sony TV. CEC function doesn't work when I use this item.

works with widescreen computer monitor
I got this to extract multichannel audio and send it to a home theater receiver that supports 5.1 audio but nothing better than 1080P resolution, while my video can continue to my widescreen 3440x1440 monitor unabated. It works perfectly! I especially like that it's USB powered so I can power it off the back of the monitor.

Not working 100%
The audio connection doesn’t get accepted by my receiver in the port that uses Arc, so what I bought this for doesn’t really work, as I can’t control the receiver through my Roku as I did without an hdcp 2.2 connection. And the TV now randomly shows either a screen larger or smaller than it should by the time the devices get turned on, which requires me to turn off and on the sound switch to get things back to normal. So something is not right with this device.

Works with Roku Streaming Stick 4K HDR10!
I had to go through several HDMI Audio Extractor products from various vendors here before finding this one that ACTUALLY works! It passes the Roku display test for 4K HDR10 @ 60Hz, and allows output of Dolby Digital Plus via the HDMI Audio Out port to an older AVR that does not have support for ATMOS. If you are looking for a device that works with Roku, auto detects the correct 4K HDR10 display, AND extracts then sends the Dolby Digital Plus audio signal via separate HDMI to your AVR, this is the one.

Wanted to split HDMI out from a RTX4080 to a receiver, I get no sounds when split and 2.0 using TOC
I did not want to spend 400 on a VERTEX, yet wanted to split Audio out from my RTX4080 to a monitor (2 speakers, poor sounds) and to my receiver 5.1 Surround sound, and quality speakers. Now The video pass through is fine at 1440P (where I tested), but sound did not work. I can get 2 speaker from TOC and no sound at all when I use HDMI (which is what I bought it to do).I did not test eARC as I do not have a use for that, I want to split off the 5.1 audio from teh HDMI and pass it to a receiver, this failed, am returning. Did replace the EDID with 7.1 or 5.1, but since it only output 2 speaker and then using TOC what is the point.

This is how to get optical surroundsound audio from you hdmi dongles and devices.
If you have an older 7.1 surround sound receiver without hdmi inputs you can't get 7.1, 5.1 from hdmi smart devices . You can with this device. You plug in the smart device hdmi output to the input of the device then plug in the device to your hdmi input on you TV and send the optical output to the optical input on your 7.1, 5.1 receiver or sound bar. Set your 7.1 or 5.1 selection on the device and set you audio setting on your smart device to 7.1 or 5.1 instead of stereo. Bingo now you don't have to buy a new surround sound receiver.

This is junk
Do not buy this product. It does not do what it is claimed to do. I ran a HDMI from the output on tv to it and it would not produce any sound through any of the ports. I tried running it through all of the outports on tv, both ehdmi and not, also to all of the hdmi ports on it, then out to any speaker even headset and Sonos speakers and no matter what it produced no sound. It simple does not have any splitting capacity or passthrough. Also i know all the speakes and headset and such do work fine so long as you do not try to plug them into this product as I tested each and they work fine. Unfortunately, I had it shiped to me in costa rica and it is more hassle to return. AGAIN THIS IS JUNK, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON IT, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED

Works perfect... once your set it up correctly.
It makes no sense to me that "hdmi input" is not the input and the "hdmi output arc/earc" is used instead for the input from the tvs arc enabled hdmi port. The "audio only" is the ort for extracted output used to connect via hdmi to my amp.Once I figured all this out it worked great and was streaming discrete 7.1 surround sound to my non arc enabled amplifier.
