I wanted to use the extra Kiinde bags I had leftover from breastfeeding. My kids love the pouches you buy in the grocery store but we never get them because they're expensive. I decided to give these spouts a try so I can make them healthy pouches for on the go. I was a little nervous if a thick smoothie or yogurt would work in them and it does! I blend up frozen fruit, yogurt, oats, spinach, flaxseed and milk and they work perfectly. The spout is large enough for a thick smoothie or even yogurt. But if there are chunks it would clog the spout. The only thing I can say is that the spout is somewhat heavy so if you set the pouch down when it's less than half or a third full, the top can flop down and drip. And yes, your child will need to be able to hold it upright and steady because it will spill out fast since the spout is so large. We did have a few large spills in the beginning but my kids (3 and 5) do great with them now. They are very easy to clean, I just make sure to clean them as soon as I can, and I do reuse the pouches. I just rinse them out and dry them. This way I can get a good few uses out of each one.
