The single best fixed blade under $100: Ontario RAT-3
The Ontario Knife Company Randall’s Adventure Training 3, or the OKC RAT-3 is the best bang for your buck fixed blade in the survival and tool knife market. Micarta handles, 1095 carbon steel, full tang, and MITUSA! This is one of the most utilitarian and practical fixed blades on the market. Pleasantly comfortable in hand, not oversized so you can carry it most places, tough as hell, and pretty easy to get a good edge on. If you can destroy this knife, kudos. The plastic sheath leaves some desire (the nylon is even worse IMO) but did come with a tek-lok adapter when I purchased mine (may not anymore). It’s the perfect size knife for scout carry (the eyelets are the perfect width for a standard duty belt and some 550 cord) or thrown in a go bag. Buy with confidence. Pictured is mine after almost a decade of use and abuse on Active Duty in the US Army, 2 deployments, and multiple trips to Atropia.

Great knife
I have multiple esee 3s as well as the Rat 3 and I have to say I prefer the Rat 3. I like the Rat 3 scales better compared to the Esee 3 as it feels better against my skin when I carry it IWB. I also like the coating on this knife better compared to the Esee as the coating on the Esee sometimes cause more friction due to it being a much thicker coating when passing through material. I actually strip the coating off my Esee knives just because it annoys me in that regard. The Rat 3 sheath is usable but I would recommend ditching it and purchase the polymer Esee 3 sheath as it will fit the Rat 3 perfectly or a kydex sheath. That way you get a ton more carry options and can carry on the belt, IWB, or attach to something. I haven't noticed much of a difference in the heat treat between the Esee or the Rat 3. The Esee is definitely slightly harder steel and will have slightly better edge retention but it's not enough difference to make a difference. Factory edge sucks and needs to be sharpened but I put my own edge on every knife so that doesn't bother me. It's a great knife that will serve anyone well. My only gripe is these are expensive now. I remember purchasing mine a few years ago for far less. But everything is expensive now I guess.

Best EDC Fixed Blade Knife
It’s small enough to carry on your belt without scaring non-knife people in public. The steel sharpens easily and maintains an edge well. It’s perfect for detailed carving work. Handle will absorb sweat and oil over time and turn a darker shade, but who really cares. It functions. The sheath could be better but it functions to protect the knife and keep it from coming out. Worth the money and with care will last a lifetime.

Good knife, terrible sheath
You get what you pay for for this. The knife is built tough. I wasn't impressed at all with the factory edge it seems like Ontarios quality has suffered recently. Not a big deal since I'll sharpen it anyways. But the sheath that came with it is complete garbage. It's clunky and not to mention you can't just slide the knife in or out with ease. You'll want to get another sheath to actually edc this thing. I wanna say they used to come with a kydex one but not too sure. Overall good knife with a little adjustment

Montana Approved Hunting Knife
Everything about this knife is perfect for hunting & ultimately gutting a Deer, Antelope or Elk. To begin with the fit in your hand is just downright natural, it’s not forced into position but can be held in all the positions one needs with confidence it is going to be maneuverable for all the tasks from the 1st puncture to cutting around the anus, it is almost magical in your hand. There’s nothing out of place awkward or unbalanced with this knife. While my hand is XL & initially I wanted another 1/2” to 3/4” length to the handle, in useage it wasn’t how I held the knife. I found I was choking up on the blade for better control & that wasn’t a second thought afterwards. While it comes sharp enough, I like to add a little touch up before the season tobreally make it like cutting through butter. It holds an edge easily through multiple deer or one big bull elk. The grip has a natural feel & never was slippery even within wet from the harvesting. While I love my pocket knives, they fill up with stuff during the process. Then can be slippery even with the best of handle material as the build up tends to constantly leak out onto your grip causing slipping here & there. If needed, a quick wipe to clean your hand off & with this knife your moving forward without a second thought. I have never worried about my grip slipping with this knife, all because of its shape, grip & sharpness. As mentioned before I like to choke up on this knife & I don’t fear my hand slipping forward. The blade belly cut out for my 1st finger & grippy blade spine near the handle secure my hand from moving forward. I’ve looked for years & tried many knives over the decades & this one is my go to gutter!

Ontario rat 3
EDC! Seems like a great little knife! The sheath is not bad, but that's the way they all come from the factory! The factory could do better with a kydex sheath! Now the only complaint I have is the price! This Ontario Rat 3 is smaller than the Ontario Rat 5 and it cost more than the Ontario Rat 5! You would think the Rat 3 would be cheaper considering it has less material than the Rat 5! I know this because I now have the whole set of Ontario, like the Rat 3, Rat 5, Rat 7 & the Rtak II. I give Ebay 5 stars though! Thanks!

Great knife
The blade had a surprising belly for some reason and is a strong but slicing blade the coating will scrape off with gars use fairly quickly but still great blade performance 👏 👌

A good quality knife
A great little knife. Perfect for hunting or just EDC. Great handle and overall construction. I purchased one of these years ago that has a D2 blade. The 1095 steel is good, but it will rust without proper care. Also, the D2 holds an amazing edge. I have dressed out more than a dozen deer with this knife (including splitting the rib cage...) and I still haven’t had to sharpen the blade yet. The older one came with a beautiful kydex sheath with a Blade-Tech belt clip. The nylon sheath that this one comes with is good, but I think a knife of this size needs a shorter kydex type sheath (...so I bought one...).
