Right Thread
The thread on the barrel nut matched the old 14cm bolt . These bolts hold together a large pine bed and some of the barrel nuts must have been lost over time.

Going nuts
I managed to lose a barrel nut whilst reassembling my daughters bed, these were a perfect replacement. Good quality and finish to them. Ironically I found the original one afterwards and also a random one in my car! Who knew? At least I have spares now though.
