Flowers let down their nectar periodically so it is possible that when a hummer comes to visit he will not find nectar. BUT if you add a tube feeder to your plant, there will ALWAYS be nectar for the little visitors. My pot sticks are too short to be placed in the ground as most species of hummers that are in the US don't feed down low. However, it is a great addition to your hanging basket, planter, windowbox, etc. This one is about 15" tall, but could be made shorter by cutting the "stem" with bolt cutters. Tube feeders are great fun and hummers love them! Hummers think they're at a trumpet flower - only better! Small nectar tubes help insure that the nectar will be consumed before it has a chance to ferment in the heat outside. Tubes are easy to fill and clean, too, making them perfect for people with hand/wrist problems. Tubes come out of the copper coils very easily for filling. Just pop off the red cap and dunk the tube into the nectar to fill, replace red cap, rinse off, tube is ready for the hummers. Constructed of copper; feeding tubes are plastic with red rubber stoppers. I've accented this feeder with copper leaves and bright red glass beads This is a one-of-a-kind piece handcrafted in Missouri. Two EXTRA feeding tubes are included so that you can keep them filled in the fridge and swap out with an empty one outside. Nectar recipe and tips for attracting hummers included. Price is for ONE pot stick with two nectar tubes and two extra nectar tubes. The other pictures are merely for reference. Once the hummers are using the feeder, remove it and just hold a tube in your hand where the feeder had been when the hummers are feeding. Soon you'll be handfeeding a hummer! I will be glad to ship direct to a gift recipient with a gift note included. My feeders ship Priority Mail insured. THAT MEANS THAT YOU MUST PROVIDE A VALID ADDRESS RECOGNIZED BY THE US POSTAL SERVICE FOR THE DELIVERY OF MAIL.
