Works great!
Works great with my '22 Ram with Uconnect 5. You just have to connect this via usb and treat it as a wired carplay device then connect your phone to the device wirelessly to enjoy carplay. The best part is that it connects directly to my truck's wifi so I can enjoy services like YouTube, YouTube Tv, and Prime video while on the road. Video quality and audio is excellent. Highly recommend.Update 4/4: Also works great in my 2023 Corvette C8!

2021 F150 didn’t work as it would not show up on screen.
I couldn’t even get this CarPlay adapter to display a startup screen in my trucks system. When plugged in I get a solid blue light and a fast flashing red light on the box itself but no signal is sent to my trucks screen. This is my 3rd attempt at trying to find a CarPlay adapter that will display full screen on the 12” screen in my 2021 F150. My 1st purchase was the Kaming Magic Box 3.0 which did display videos in full screen so I know it can be done. I used that box for 3 weeks until it required app updates that blocked most of the apps from even loading. My 2nd box was/is the CarlinKit Magic Box 2.0 which worked the best user wise but wouldn’t display in full screen (the box would only show in split screen with the ford apps showing on the other part of screen such as navigation, climate control etc). The CarlinKit box operates almost flawlessly and is very responsive with access to Google Play Store. My only complaint was the display size on screen and that is just because I’ve seen the first box display from corner to corner videos across the full 12 inch display in my truck. Just a heads up to the other people out there stuck in the search for a CarPlay adapter that checks all their boxes.

The Jury is out
As most other reviews the instructions aren't very customer / user friendly. Kind of leaves it to you to diagnose & figure out. The 1st day it all seemed plug & play, but apps like Netflix, prime etc.... would load, but wouldn't play. I was almost ready to return. I gave it 1 more day to figure out & succes. Nowhere online was there any videos, instructions on setup & operating. So hopefully my simple advice will help the next purchaser. It is plug n play but simply make sure you have an internet/ wifi connection and click your CarPlay button on your touchscreen even if you have a Droid (I'm a Samsung user). Seems to stream properly. Good luck.

Buyer beware
It came and was new but for almost 300 bucks when you buy a product it's usually branded. This feels like it's a cheaper made almost identical product as to what would be expected. In the advertisement on amazon it plainly states magic box 3.0 and no where on the packaging says this is a magic box 3.0 Not on the box, not in the manual and not on the device. Comes with some random branding on it that's not mentioned on amazon.Does the product work? Yes. It works fine and connects easily enough. The instructions are in poorly translated English though. So be fore-warned you'll be on your own to get this up and running. The hotspot deal, you'll have to connect it each time you shut down your car/ start it back up. This isn't really a problem to me, as I expect aftermarket jank from this considering what exactly I bought it for. Carplay works flawless and everything is buttery smooth so far in the user interface. Small quirk I cannot add icons to homescreen or widgets. Could be the radio though as it's aftermarket (long presses might not work with the screen) I don't have a native carplay car I can test this theory on. Mainly bought it for the fact I have a battery case on my Iphone that doesn't do passthrough data (apple security measures) So I needed a work around. This works and will take getting used to. Hopefully, the thing doesn't slow down over time and start lagging as android devices can normally do. Satisfied over-all so far. 2 hours of testing at time of review. Will update if I run into problems.

Solid device when it works
So I got this device at around $250. I really like the fact that it can play YouTube and YouTube TV while also still being able to use Apple Carplay and what not. Then comes the consistency factor that I do not like. In the short amount of time I've had this device (around 8 months) this magic box has frozen and crashed on me easily 40-50 times. The majority of the time happening while I'm using directions to go somewhere. EXTREMELY inconvenient. Not only does it freeze and crash it can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes to fully come back to functioning properly. I have another wireless device in my car for a back up that cost $80 and it hasn't crashed on me more than 3 times in the year plus I've had it. If this didn't crash randomly and at the worst times I'd give this 5 stars.I also never got Hulu to stream properly on this device either. Not sure if it's just me but anytime I go to login it acts like I put in the incorrect password and just does nothing afterwards. It's not the wrong password so that doesn't make any sense to me.

Absolutely the best adapter
I ordered both the Elite 3 and the Magic Car box 3. Even though both had comparable performance, I quickly chose the Car Box, even though it was less expensive, because the interface was far better. In fact this adapter is flawless. It connects to bluetooth on my phone every time and , once I set my credentials, YouTube, Netflix, and Prime Video all remember their settings.I do not need to connect to my phone's hotspot to watch them because I installed a sim card and I now automatically have a consistent 4G signal without it. One of my favorite features is how easy it is the switch between CarPlay and Android Auto. The adapter comes with setup instructions but they are very limited. In fact all five of the adapters I tried had the same problem. But even though this company is in Hong Kong, their support is excellent. I contacted them numerous times to ask questions through email at [email protected]. They responded within 24 hours and their responses were in perfect English. They told me they are working on an instruction manual that can be downloaded from their website, but I looked for it and was not able to find it yet.
