Buyer Beware
I bought this hoping to find a way to use my iPhone on the bike. Big mistake. This is not at all as advertised and I had to return it. The thing is more flimsy than a zip-lock bag and the so-called instructions are so dense I never did figure out how to get the phone inside. That is probably a good thing for the phone. Do yourself a favor an get the real thing. One positive in this ordeal was how completely easy it is to return things to Amazon. They are great.

Great Case
It is easy to mount and works well with my 4S. It keeps my phone from getting dusty during my rides. I would recommend it to people with the iPhone app.

Very disappointed with this cheap product
I'm an avid bicycle rider, so I was really looking forward to testing out the new Runtastic Bike Case for my iPhone 4S. The cardboard box the unit comes in is attractive and looks very professional, however, as soon as I opened the box all professionalism ceased.1. I discovered the unit attaches to my bike's handlebars or stem with 2 plastic cable ties (like cheap plastic zip ties they use for handcuffs). This means if you want to take the unit off your bike you have to cut the plastic ties, thus destroying them. There's an extra set of 2 ties, but seriously, it looks like a complete jerry-rig system rather than a finished product. I expect MUCH better for $49.99.2. The case that holds the phone is very cheap plastic. It will fit the iPhone 4, 4S and 5 inside the case and foam spacers are provided to take up the extra space for the iPhone 4 and 4S so it doesn't wobble around inside. There's a hole in the back of the case so you can use the camera even with the case on. This means the case isn't waterproof or even water-resistant. Any water or mud that splashes up high enough to splatter your handlebars will get into this case via the camera hole. Strangely enough, there are rubberized plugs/gaskets that cover the headphone and bottom power connectors but none for the camera hole.3. My iPhone 4S wouldn't fit inside the case with the very thin Incipio case I regularly use, so I took the case off and tried inserting it inside the Runtastic case. It was a challenge first just trying to figure out how to open the case (the knobby section on the right side slides up, but no directions are given for this, and it's NOT intuitive). Once I put the 4S inside the case, I couldn't close it. The 4S is just a bit too thick to make it fit easily into the inside of the Runtastic, but with some experimentation and several minutes of squeezing in just the right places I was finally able to close it with a great deal of force. It's not easy and quite time consuming, so by this time I was feeling that the product wasn't engineered well. The iPhone 5, being a tad thinner that the 4 and 4S should fit much better without requiring the effort of forcing the latch closed.4. Once the 4S was inside the Runtastic case I found that I could control the iPhone's screen right through the very thin clear cover just as if it had a bare screen.5. The back of the unit has a piece that attaches unprofessionally to the handlebar or stem with the plastic ties (as mentioned earlier) and you slide and lock the Runtastic case to it. The iPhone can be oriented either horizontally or vertically.Overall impressions: It feels and looks CHEAP! The cable tie attachment system screams of near zero product development, which for a $50 products is simply inexcusable. Once installed on the bike it looks like the iPhone is quite controllable, but the case doesn't even pretend to be water resistant, so if it's wet on the road or starts raining, you'd better get your phone out of the case and somewhere safe, or at least put it in your jacket pocket out of the wet. The cable ties should keep it attached to your bike, but it will still look like a temporary and hokey setup. I really hated the cheap feel of the hard plastic of the case itself, although it appears that it would provide a fair amount of protection if your phone flew off the handlebars or stem for any reason. Will I be using this case? Nope! It's one of the poorest designs I've seen and horrifically overpriced for what it offers. The lack of moisture and mud protection is ridiculous, so it appears the Runtastic engineers don't realize that serious bikers can get caught in the rain and frequently ride in less than perfect road and weather conditions. I do not recommend this product for the above reasons. A $50 bicycle iPhone case MUST at very least be splash and rain resistant, and should be easily detachable from the handlebars/stem without having to cut plastic ties! OMG!!

Just Keep Peddlin': A Runtastic Black Bike Case for iPhone 4, 4S, 5 Review
These days, it seems I use my phone for everything but making calls. I keep up on email, interact with social media sites, shop online, control household electronics, and train for endurance events. My favored app is great for running and has a cycling option, although I rely on a bicycle computer since my mobile phone would be strapped to my arm or in my pocket. The Runtastic iPhone bike case, made in China, plus bike app turns the iPhone into a bicycle computer. The case, mounting bracket, and other pieces weigh about 3 ounces total. Installation requires finding a spot on either the neck or handle bars to secure a small 1.25 inch square mounting bracket with zip ties. The remaining set up entails customizing the case to fit your model iPhone, including adding a home button overlay and small round tab to easily activate the home button. Additionally, the free app can be installed; then during the activation process, the pro features are activated and a 7 day trial Runtastic gold membership begins.I found the activation process confusing and am a bit annoyed by the automatically started 7 day trial membership. A small pamphlet found inside the package indicates access to the pro cycle app version, and then requires downloading the free app where the pro options are unlocked during activation. Supposedly the only difference is the ability to track speed, cadence, and heart rate. It would have been nice to know the trial gold membership would have started immediately so I could have postponed activation. There was no option to start the trial at a later date; being out of town to hike Half Dome in Yosemite, I wasn't able to take advantage of the membership's features. During this time, activating the gold membership is offered at a reduced rate, and may be worth the expense if you're likely to purchase training plans. There are other benefits; however the webpage describing the difference in membership plans was replaced with large buttons to encourage purchasing the gold membership, and clearly prevented me from knowing what the benefits were beyond the first time I was shown. Otherwise the website appears to be a companion site to the app in the same way other well known sports apps interact with their websites. The protective foam padded case, when properly configured, holds the iPhone securely. The only access points are on the top for the headphone jack outlet, and on the bottom for charger connection and speaker access. There is also a button on top for the turning on/off the power. Volume must be controlled on the display since there is no access or buttons on the sides. One side is the hinge, and the other is the locking mechanism.Fortunately, anyone who may dislike using Runtastic doesn't have to. The sturdy case is easy to install, keeps my iPhone safe and snug, and puts the stats where I can easily and safely see them. However, these benefits don't add up to good value at the current price. I wouldn't spend more than about fourteen dollars on this case.PROS:Tool free mountingEasily switch between portrait and landscape mountingSplash and shock proofWorks with runtastic sports and fitness apps2 year limited warrantyCONS:The Runtastic app could be improved (not required)Inadequate instructionsOverpriced
