Does not read accurately or consistently.
Why is there no selection for zero stars! I purchased this item 14 months ago and did not open it until today, so I cannot return it. After installing the battery, the tachometer detected the RPM for about 20 minutes. The reading on the tach varied from 140 to over 30,000 RPM on several successive readings. I tried multiple taping and light blocking methods. And after the 20 minutes of use, it stopped reading any rotations completely, yep nothing but 0 RPM. The measurement was on a spline shaft, rotating about 200 RPM. This item is a major looser! Do not buy one.

Definitely not an industrial product. However, worked well for the money. It won’t be used regularly and has plenty of reflective tape.

Works and is accurate when compared to two other tachs. Does not work in full sunlight, even when the target is shaded and the sensor is not aimed at a light source. Was able to get a usable measurement early in the morning before the sun was overhead.

This product did not work properly. The digital display was very erratic and measure into the 10s of thousands when it should have read into the hundreds.

Not so easy to use.
It is hard to get an accurate reading, some time it shows a much too fast of RPM. I have to get just the perfect angle on the reflective tape to get a good reading.
