Regardless of whether BPA-free claim is legit or not, as long as you're not cooking your food with these or drinking from a water bottle they've been submerged in for a length of time there's not really any danger. BPAs only leach with high heat or extended periods (days/weeks) of exposure. Momentary contact to food wouldn't have any effect at all.

Is it 4 pair or 2 pair, product description says but then changes.. Is this bait and switch?

There were 4 pairs in the package.

The chopstick stem under the handle is waterproof and can be used to pickup food or in soup, etc, however it is not recommended to use them with boiling or super hot water as they are plastic. The top handle sticker part is not waterproof so you should be careful when washing them and only get water on the lower part of the stem.
