Works
I have a rubbermaid 7272 mailbox with a flag that broke off. I was looking for a replacement flag, and while this one looked like a similar shape, the style of how it connects to the mailbox appeared different. The one I had, there was like a plastic bolt that sticks through a hole in the flag, a hole in the mailbox, and then you lock it in place with a little plastic washer thing that snaps on to that bolt. I couldn't find a replacement flag that looked like that same style, but, I took a gamble on this one... without measuring, and was just hoping it was the right size. This flag comes in a clear plastic bag with a cardboard thing stapled to the top to close it. My first impression of the flag was that it was smaller than the one I had, so I was a little worried it wouldn't work.I went out to my mailbox, and tried to snap this thing into the existing hole where my old flag was. It was definitely not easy to get it in, and for a moment I thought perhaps the hole was too small and I'd have to enlarge it... but, with a little persistence, it finally snapped in to place. It's a very snug fit, which means it takes a little effort (nothing big) to raise and lower the flag, whereas our old one was so loose you could just poke it and it would fall down. This one is firm. I expect this one will perhaps loosen up a little bit with some use. When I first saw this style flag, comparing to the one we had with a plastic bolt through it, I was skeptical that it would fit, and that it would stay in place and not fall out, but thankfully I am not at all worried about that after actually getting it installed. So while this is a bit smaller than the rubbermaid flag it was replacing, it works, and works just fine.

Made for Rubbermaid
At first, as a senior citizen with arthritic hands, I struggled knowing this flag would snap in but couldn't quite get it to snap in. However, I did not despair. I sprayed a little WD-40 on the flag nub, around the hole in the mailbox and used a mallet to get it to snap in. Voila' it is in...easy for my flag-raising for outgoing mail, easy for my postal carrier to move down, easy all around. The original Rubbermaid flag was 17 years old (same age as the mailbox) and it broke. This new flag seems sturdier.

Threw away for it was very difficult to insert into mailbox.

Perfect fit.
Seems to be a good quality replacement part. Fits my mailbox well. We'll have to see how it holds up to the Florida sunshine.

works really good
For whatever reason, when we bought our house, the mailbox was missing the flag. I ordered this one hoping it would fit. I tried to put it on the mailbox but had a really hard time getting it to fit. My husband had to work on it and get on the mailbox. Once on, it works good and I don't think it will be coming off any time soon. There is no problem with raising or lowering the flag and it seems to be made of sturdy material so it will last for a long time.

Mailbox flag
It fit perfectly. I was not strong enough to push in. So put some Vaseline on it and that worked
