I purchased this dashcam to replace an aging dashcam that was having issues. I have to say this was a huge step up in multiple ways! To start the picture quality is gorgeous. Every detail is crisp and easy to read. Keep this mind as you purchase a SD card since the files it makes are large I would recommend going with the highest it supports which at the time I saw 128gb, but apparently it does 256gb now. It looks fantastic both day and night, the quality doesn’t go away at night. For installation it uses a static cling sticker both on the front and back and then an adhesive to the sticker for the camera mounts. I love this as there is no permanent marking of your windshields! I have not tried moving it to another car but I would imagine since it is static cling you could reuse it or buy a new sticker. I also really appreciate the front camera being able to slide on and off the mount so I can take it down when it’s hot out to put up my sun shades. Installation overall is easy if you follow the instructions and there is plenty of wiring to run from the front camera to the rear camera. Connectivity is mostly straight forward but a little finicky if you have CarPlay. That is not a fault of the dashcam but more how CarPlay tries to always be connected. You will connect to WiFi and Bluetooth to talk to the camera so you can update the firmware and pull video from it, but one of the nice things about the camera is you can still playback video on the camera itself if you have to which was one of the deciding factors for me. I don’t have to pay for a subscription to get my dashcam videos or have to deal with connection issues at the scene of an accident, I can just show law enforcement from the camera on the spot. The camera also features ADAS capabilities which works well but I don’t use it since it isn’t connected to your car it will warn you of lane departure when you’re using your turn signal because it doesn’t know you’re planning on turning. But it does let you know if you get too close to something or if you’re at a light when the person in front of you is going if you’re staring into space, so that’s nice. The camera is a little sensitive for emergency videos if you hit a pothole a little hard but I prefer it to be overly sensitive than not enough. Overall fantastic camera at a great price! Buy with confidence.

After looking for many dashcams, I decided to stick with the 70mai A810S. The first reason is its well-known brand. Secondly, it uses a supercapacitor instead of a lithium battery, which helps me worry-free about fire, especially in the heat in my place. The camera delivers exceptionally sharp 4K front and 1080P rear recordings that capture license plates and road details clearly, even at night. The Sony STARVIS 2 sensors and HDR technology significantly improve low-light performance, while built-in GPS accurately records speed and location for every trip. Installation was straightforward, the app is intuitive, and the camera runs reliably without overheating or missing recordings. Overall, it's a feature packed, premium dash cam that offers excellent video quality, dependable performance, and outstanding value for anyone looking to enhance their vehicle's safety and security.

Overall, this is a great dashcam package for peace of mind while driving. Used it on a two week road trip and it worked without issue. The front 4K cameral was clear and detailed. Slight "fish-eye", but that may have been my placement on the windshield. The rear camera quality was actually a little better than I thought it would be for 1080p. Installation and set-up was straightforward. Viewing all of the set-up details on your phone is extremely helpful and an easy way to edit settings. The fact that it is not touchscreen is not really that bad since you have the phone app. Keep in mind, the voice commands will only work if the phone app is not being used. The voice commands worked really well and are a great feature. All-in-all, great dashcam package!

The video is AWESOME, day or night. I'm especially impressed by the nighttime resolution and clarity. I plan to decrease the frame rate to decrease the file sizes, because who needs 60 fps anyway? Installation required some common sense intuition. The mounting instructions have images but few words, which would be fine, but the various images were not consistent. Should the rear camera look through the electrostatic film, or around it? Different images were inconsistent on this, and there were no words saying which was right. I opted to mount so it looked around the film. The electrostatic film works great. Press the film to the clean glass, then the sticky mount goes on the film. Also, the instructions don't say which direction is up or down on the rear camera, but that turns out to be ok because, undocumented is the fact that in the setup is a setting to reverse and/or flip the rear image, so it doesn't matter. Set the rear camera so the wire goes the right direction for how you want to route the wire. I thought my wiring was going to be terrible as the trim fit is so tight on my new Subaru that I didn't see how it would work, but using the provided tool I could work my way along, prying the edges of trim up a fraction of an inch as I went to tuck in the wire. The rear camera had gobs of extra wire (for much longer vehicles), but the C-pillar has gobs of space in it to stuff the last few feet of wire. It would have been nice if the instructions offered some guidance on how to handle hatchbacks, such as how much slack wire to leave so the door can move freely. I made the jump from the car to the door near one hinge in the corner, experimenting with how much slack was adequate, and the trim was tight enough to hold the wire securely at each end. The installation instructions for the app were clunky. Your phone has to remain connected to the internet, but it also has to connect to the 70mai ad-hoc wifi for certain operations. But my Android phone does not do "data from 5G while connected to wifi" very well, so I had to keep connecting and disconnecting from the ad-hoc wifi and my home wifi when I got errors at various steps in the installation. It would have been nice if those connect/disconnect steps had been spelled out. It all worked eventually. The app works great once installed. It prompts to connect to the ad-hoc wifi, and it happens seamlessly. You lose your internet while you are connected, but you only connect long enough to find your video and download it. When you turn off the car your phone returns to its normal connections automatically. My phone understands the HEVC codec in the video, but my computer initially did not. It literally cost me less than a dollar to buy the HEVC codec at the Microsoft store and I can now view videos on my computer. I did that my removing the memory card and using a card reader. I don't download to my computer anymore, however. It is more convenient to use the app to download to my phone wirelessly, use Google Photos to trim the video to length. Even 1-minute videos are 250 MB in high res, 60 fps. The "emergency video" button does not do what I wish it did. When something really interesting happens, I press the marked button on the cam and it announces it is starting an emergency video. The emergency video gets saved to a different folder that will not get overwritten, but the really interesting event you saw is on the PREVIOUS video, and it will get overwritten eventually. I wish it saved the previous minute-long video also, or instead! Still, the emergency video is useful because in the app, in the timeline tab, the emergency video is in red, so it helps you locate the interesting video, the one or two minutes just BEFORE the red section! You can then download those. With my 256GB card I just have to remember to do that within the next 10 hours of driving after the event! The power connections are high quality and have not jiggled loose at all. I have the wire routed around and down the A-pillar, then down and up above my feet, then plugged into the 12V socket on my dash.

Item is very easy to install with clear instructions to do so. Easy app to use for cameras set up & use. Purchased the hardwire kit to have 4k connection. All is working well. Great value for my first dash cam. Will be using parking lot security feature to keep an eye on my 79 Pontiac Trans Am while in hotel’s parking lot. Will be able to record this summer’s road trip and events I will be attending. All the reviews I have watched on YouTube have been positive helping me to choose this brand/model.

This is my 4th one bought for putting these into other family members cars, if that tells you how much I recommend this. The Sony Starvis 2 IMX678 image sensor is about the best you can get in a dash cam right now today. Image clarity and sharpness at 4K is very good. Dynamic range, like when driving under an overpass, or into a dark parking structure on a sunny day, or the reverse, coming out of darkness and into sunlight from a tunnel, etc, is very good. No "black hole" until the camera is completely into the shaded or dark area, and no "whiteout" when coming out of a tunnel into daylight, the image is visible at vastly different light levels all the time. It also does not wash out license plates ahead of you when your headlights hit the reflective plate. Rear camera is 1080p, and is OK to use in the same conditions, just not nearly as sharp with the reduced resolution, and only slightly worse on dynamic range, but still able to function in differing light levels. Adding a circularly polarized filter (which 70mai also makes, and may or may not be included in some purchase bundles) to the dash cam does help a little bit on reducing the reflection inside the windshield of your dashboard on sunny days, and does just a tiny bit towards glare of oncoming headlights, or reflective strips around construction barrels and signage that reflect back your own headlights at night. I'd definitely recommend using one for the front camera, and consider one for the rear as well, since they are not very expensive, and do help a little. This one supports up to a 256 GB SD card, so buy the fastest speed and most reliable one you can, since it needs to write at a fairly fast rate with both 4K and the rear 1080 camera recording simultaneously. I bought a Lexar E-series 256G and it's never had issues writing video files to it. If you use 256 GB for the front camera only, using 4K at 30 fps, it's working out to around 16-18 hours of recording time before older video starts getting overwritten. You can hit a button on the unit to flag a recording as something important that it will not overwrite until you manually delete it, and it moves it to a different folder, so you never need to worry about losing video of an incident you caught on camera. Adding the rear camera at 1080 brings the frame rate on both front and back down to 25 fps, which is still fine for viewing, and the total recording time comes down to maybe 10-12 hours. Normal driving for just a few hours per day will leave you with multiple days of recorded video, if not maybe a whole week before overwriting older recordings. Recordings by default are 1 minute each, so as it runs out of space, an older 1 minute video is deleted to make sure it has space for current data. You can change that to 2 or 3 minutes, but then if you use the app to download video to your phone, it takes longer, and uses up more space on your phone, so I left it at the default. Worst case I might need to d/l multiple 1 minute video clips for a long running incident, but that's not too bad. The unit itself is fairly small, and the default brightness was not enough to be distracting at night. You can change brightness, or set the screen to go dark if find it distracting yourself. With all the other stuff my vehicle already put in the middle of the windshield for it's lane centering, headlight sensing, and wiper rain sensing, I didn't have enough room on the driver's side to mount it without it blocking a bit of my view of what could have potentially been a car or pedestrian off to the side at an intersection. A bit of holding it up and checking before you decide where to mount it is obviously important. So I mounted it to the glass behind, and on the passenger side of the rear view mirror. No additional blockage of any windshield view for me in that position, and I can just duck my head down a bit to see the screen to check that it's on, or to see where the button is to mark a recording to not be auto-deleted. I prefer it mounted where there's zero loss of any field of view when driving like that. You can disable audio recording on it's built-in microphone, and you can also disable having it show your vehicle speed, and/or location (latitude and longitude from it's GPS chip) along the bottom of the video. I chose to disable all of those, so the only thing shown on the video screen is the date and time of the recording. The power cable was long enough to tuck it around the edges of the windshield, and route it down around the dash and into my console to get power. The rear video cable length would have been fine if I had been able to stay above the headliner all the way around the car to the rear, but my side-curtain and door post airbags left no room at all to tuck cables behind, and were tight to to the metal (no gaps). I wound up running it around the windshield and down to the floor, pulling up the sill plates to run the cable in the raceway under them, and under the carpet, to reach the back seat. From there, back up again beside the rear seat, to the deck area. That left me about 3 feet short from the extra cable distance, but I was able to find 3rd party cables on Amazon that exactly fit the pinout of this rear camera, and in varying lengths of 3, 6, and 10 feet. I ordered a 3 and 6 foot just in case, and the 3 foot worked out. If you want to finish this install in one shot, check your mounting locations, and all access to be able to tuck cables behind moldings and weather stripping, etc, for how you'll reach both power in the front, as well as the rear video cable, and consider ordering any extra extension cables before hand just in case.

It is much easier to install than my previous car recorder, especially when a complete owner's manual, written in legible English language is included. There is no mysterious red wire extended out of the rear camcorder's wire to figure out, just the USB-C connector all the way for this camera. Ergonomics and the hardware fittings are all caught up to-date, unlike my previous cheap generic camera that looks to be 10 years behind in the design department. The device's screen is a bit small, but since it can be connected to my phone screen via the app and WIFI, the camera's small screen doesn't bother me much. The quality of the camera recording looked good for the daytime driving, though I hadn't tested out at nighttime yet. Overall, a very solid and a well-made device. The adage that said, "you get what you pay for." In this case, a saying that is very fitting for this camera IMO

The camera arrived as advertised. Set up is fairly easy, especially if you have good eye sight. The directions are written in very small text. Connection to the camera to my cell phone was a bit tricky as you have to setup a network between the two devices. You can also connect the camera(s) to your home network, but this gave me an issue for a weel or so. Until, I found that I had configured the camera to automatically connect to my home network. This would cause my home network to drop out and pick the camera network. Then all my devices at home would not connect to my home network. **Note: I also found that the camera would get so hot that it would auto shutdown. The website said that the normal temperature is 60-140 but the camera got so hot that I couldn't touch the side where the power cord plugs in. I then used infra red temperture gun and found that it would get past 170 Deg. I contacted the company and was pleasently surprised that I received a rapid reply. I sent them a picture of the temperature readout and was told that they were sending my a replacment camera, no charge! 3 days later it arrived. It has been installed and working as advertised.

Great device and efficient AI features

This is a fantastic dash cam and one of the best I’ve used so far. The 4K front camera paired with the 2K rear camera delivers very sharp, clear footage both day and night. License plates, road signs, and details are easy to read, which is exactly what you want from a dash cam. I’ve been using it consistently and never ran into stability issues, freezing, or random restarts. It’s been very reliable. Installation is straightforward. With an additional hardwire kit, it’s easy to route the cables cleanly to the fuse box, and once installed, everything works smoothly and reliably. ⚠️ Important note for buyers (parking mode): If you use an aftermarket hardwire kit, the camera will stay powered constantly and won’t allow parking guard mode. In that case, it keeps recording continuously, which can quickly wear down your memory card. To use proper parking guard mode, you need the original hardwire kit. Once installed, the camera detects it automatically and enables parking mode. It then records normally while driving and switches to motion detection (front or rear) when the car is parked. This is a big advantage because it protects your memory card from unnecessary wear and only records when something actually happens. Overall, this dash cam offers excellent video quality, stable performance, and smart features when paired with the right accessories. As long as you’re aware of the hardwire kit requirement for parking mode, it’s an outstanding choice and absolutely worth it.
