I bought one of these in the past and you get what you pay for but initially when you look it up they were great. Does Scott Lezski seven-year is this good last 33 months but you can’t be the purchase price as long as another change out is easy.

Motor seems stiff, but that could be by design. Draws a lot of current at no load.
#ITEM: Starter Motor with Drive & Relay for Yamaha SuperJet. #CONCLUSION: I like it. I'll be using this for a very different purpose. #WHOAMI: I'm an inventor/engineer, so I go deep on design and details. #MYAPPLICATION: I'm converting this into a servo motor. #RESULTS: With PWM running at around 2.5V, the motion is a little rough. It is rougher in reverse than forward. Both of these conditions are somewhat expected. A motor of this size will have massive brushes that need a wear in period. Starter motor brush mountings are usually not designed for reverse rotation, so only time will tell if the motor will be able to handle it. When turning the shaft by hand, it feels quite stiff compared to a scooter motor of similar size/weight. This could be due to heavy weather proofing gaskets though. These are intended to work in much harsher environments than scooter motors. As a consequence, it draws quite a lot of current, even at low speed and no load. I have to question the "10 kilowatts" claim on the description. At 12V, 10kw would draw 833 Amps! Car starters draw between 300A and 500A, with much larger batteries, so I think the description has an extra zero. 1,000W would be more reasonable claim, and 500W would probably be the real world wattage. I tested this up to 325W at 40% PWM dutycycle and a 20V source (setup seen in my photo). I do not recommend copying this setup. The motor gets very hot at 25khz (the PWM frequency of the speed controller in my photo). I'll be running it with a 600khz PWM in my final application. #ENJOY
