SMALLRIG Cold Shoe Mount Adapter with Safety Release and 1/4'' Screw for Camera Cages, Magic Arms and Camera Monitor Mounts - 2797

I guess it's in the name, but this is very small, and I can't really fault it. It's unobtrusive design lets me use it pretty much anywhere I want on my equally excellent and well-thought out Smallrig camera cage. This is a really sturdy and solid piece of kit, and really well priced.I'm really impressed with the fact that this can pretty much mount onto anything, and because it's so small, I can easily attach it even to thinner magic arms. It also works really well with the Smallrig monitor mount (BSE2346).Overall, easily 5 stars - another solid, dependable piece of kit from Smallrig.

I have quite a number of Smallrig items. All are well made, not cheap, but reliable.This one is much the same. The only thing stopping four stars is the fact that the shoe is a bit fiddly and it can take both hands to remove an item. It's not particularly light. Otherwise I like it.

Used this for the first time over the weekend and although initially it looks and feels well madethe whole point of this is to stop something mounted in the cold show mount from being released unless the release is depressed.On a number of occasions I managed to bump my shoe mounted microphones and knock it out of this mount! - this product is useless and a standard shoe mount at a tenth of the price would be better, don’t waste your moneyI am a bit of a smallrig fanboy and have far too many of their products but this one sadly falls short

Not sure why you'd make a cold shoe mount that doesn't work with flashes (canon, sony and fuji flashes tested), but it is otherwise quite well manufactured, just quite disappointed it doesn't work for my use case as it would have solved a problem for me nicely, if only it had the slightest bit more depth to the slot.

The release button unscrewed itself and fell off during a shoot. Now the thing is a bit useless. Can't recommend for the price.

unfortunately is not suitable for flashes, other than that is a good piece.

I can still use it as a normal cold shoe adapter. But the button detached and broke not long after I took it out of the box

It's a lovely small piece of puzzle for a camera rig, i bought it to hold my Rode NTG videomic securely on my camera rig. Love the plus secure latch that you need to press to release the device inside it. A lovely plus over every other simple cold shoe mount. Works great !

I use mine as a monopod to flash mount.I take a lot of deported flash photography and its so much easier to have my flash on a telescopic monopod for some occasions and it took a whiiiiiillle to find an actual trustworthy mount.I've gotten cheaper ones and my flash fell more times than Id like to admit.Anyway, spared the change and got that one and thats it, that's the one.Its solid, well built, doesn't come undone. I feel safe and confident about the rig.Big test passed as my flash hasn't fallen once even while taking photos in freaking mosh pits at a KoRn concert.200% approved. Spend the extra bucks you'll thank you later.Ps: the safety release isn't fitted for my Godox Canon flash but it doesn't matter because my flash screw is the thing holding it in place without a problem.
