The best Slaine artwork yet
It may be viewed as heretical to say this: Simon Davis' Brutania Chronicles artwork outdoes Bisley's Horned God. The look and feel, the bold brush strokes, the fantastic colour palette (if a little let down by overly traditional word balloons). Both stories by Pat Mills of course, so that brings a great background in Celtic and British Isles mythology and with certain points of view perhaps a little heavy-handed from time to time. But a real romp too.I think that the combo of art and story here is the Slaine high water mark.

There was no need for this after "Slaine Book of Scars"
I have been a fan of slaine since day one and have the complete collection, I thought that he story had finally finished with "The book of Scars"I bought this as i'd mistakenly let my 2000ad subscription lapse and was at first intrigued, the new artwork and story-line. This first volume was fine if a tad slim, but dissapointment began in volume 2 once again a slim volume with Slaine's disillusionment and broken story-line.On renewing my 2000ad subscription,.I've been able to read vol 3, which to me, in the story becomes to far fetched with a however nice look into his mother teaching him so skills we never new he had, I will not be purchasing the hardback vol 3 or vol 4 as I feel as if somehow they have lost their way and this set of Slaine does not match up to the previous works that at details and rich in storyline

I didn't think it too many!
Incredible art, beautifuly painted. Wonderful colour choices. The adventures of everyone's favourite Celtic barbarian continue. This time we have an older world weary Slaine to contend with. It's another outstanding entry to the series, and I didn't think it too many! The drune lords are wonderfully realised. And the story is another cracker from the great Pat Mills. More people should read this it's tremendous.

Not the best slaine story ever though it is nice
Not the best slaine story ever though it is nice.New drwing style gives us one of the most beautiful Slaine we've ever seen.Still the number one comic book series/character/story for me.
