Q: Does the doors to the fridge and stove actually open? And if they do open, do they have shelves/racks inside?

The doors open but no shelves in either. My 5 year old loves playing in his kitchen daily. It comes with so many accessories. Only downfall is there are so many accessories, not enough room to store everything. Hope your child enjoys their kitchen as much as my son does.

Q: Does this kitchen have sound effects also or just light up areas?

sound effect is on the grill when you press and or turn the knob, also light up the grill area just like your cooking, when the pot is put on top of the stove...sound like boiling of water or frying...also light up on the stove area. telephone also have a sound effect when pressing the number and the phone sign. Those are the only areas the have a sound effect.

Q: What are the dimensions of the box(es) as shipped? I'm wondering if this will fit in my car. Thanks!

We just got the delivery and it was a single big box. If you have a large SUV with seats that go down, it should fit in your back. No way it'd fit in a sedan.

Q: Can it fit through a standard door?

No it can not fit through standard interior doors without taking the counter top that extends out from the interior between grill and refrig
