The speed is not that great for this 1TB card. Using Blackmagicdesign Disk Speed Test, I got ~91 MB/s read and write speeds with both 1GB and 5GB speed tests. I have an older SanDisk Extreme 1TB card (the exact same card) and its write speed is ~147 MB/s read speed is ~168 MB/s. Same computer, same card reader. This card is no where near the 130/190 write and read speeds stated on the packaging. This is disappointing.

A lot of memory for something so small. Using it for my steam deck works great.

I purchased the Sandisk Pro-Reader with the recommended Sandisk card (1TB). Reader is quite small and attractive with a ribbed aluminum housing, bright Power/Read light and simple operation. The reader comes with a 0.5m long USB-c transfer cable. The card should come with a storage container but does not. I tested this combination. For my test I transferred a single 727 GB folder consisting of multiple sub-folders containing a total of ~75,000 files (photos and videos). I used the above reader and card attached to an Acer desktop using the reader’s accompanying USB-c cable. My desktop’s USB-c port is rated for a max of 1250 MB/s. However, the files being transferred were not on the desktop but on its external HDD whose transfer speed is up to 625 MB/s. The Sandisk card’s write speed is the slowest part of this transfer and is Sandisk rated for up to 130 MB/s. This large multi-file transfer took a total of 3.1 hours to complete (at an average write speed of 65 MB/s). I’m exactly one-half of Sandisk’s “up to 130 MB/s” claim. However, I’m going from an external HDD, through my desktop, and then out to the reader…, and it’s 75,000 files (not one large file which is faster). So, one half of claimed speed seems OK. It’s amazing how much storage one has in just 0.25 grams of BT substrate.
