Q: The description says "waterproof" in some areas but "water resistant" in others. Which is it?

We purchased two (2) of these to deal with one of our cats urinating on our bed. We have caught him a few times urinating on the blankets and the liquid "absorbed" into the blanket but did not penetrate through it. Also, we regularly machine wash our blankets and have not seen a reduction in their "water resistance" yet. For me, waterproof means liquid would bead on the surface of the blanket, water resistant means absorption but no penetration through the blanket. I would call these "water resistant".

Q: There are no washing instructions. How do I wash

I washed ours in the delicate cycle with cold water and hung it to dry.

Q: Has anyone used it for a cat-pee protector? (And yes, I'm in touch with my vet, doing all the other things to prevent peeing...)

I'm using this blanket for exact same purpose. It does soak into the blanket after a while and I've found I need to spray with cleaner before washing to fully remove the cat urine smell. It's awful but they don't do out of spite but so hard to figure out the problem. Did you get your kitties issues resolved?

We have had these blankets for a year and they have held up and been waterproof with normal washing and drying. However my dog just had spinal surgery and has lost control of his bladder and has accidents multiple times a day. Washing that often with disinfectant and hot water unfortunately broke down the water proofing. But they did work really well for quite a while so I would still recommend!
