My God mother, bless her, sent me bits of Mappin and Web silver-plated cutlery every birthday and Christmas from when I was born to when I was 18. At 18, I owned a table's worth of fish knives, coffee spoons and everything in between. To be honest, I didn't really 'get' this idea until I was in my 20s and, setting up home for the first time, I got it all out of a cupboard at my mum's house and stood in awe. Obviously, I wanted to use it but as soon as I did, blimey, it took some looking after. Especially, since at that time I didn't have staff to help me. Sadly, I still don't have staff to help me...So for practical reasons, I also had my everyday cutlery. This was an amalgamation of bits I bought when I strangely ran out of teaspoons (I swear missing teaspoons are off somewhere having loads of fun with the missing socks in some alternate universe), cheap and immensely bendy stuff bought on a whim while trawling the supermarket home-ware sections, odd bits which strangely came home from work or school in various lunchboxes, etc., etc.Call me mad, but now in my forties and both kids can now hold an adult-sized eating utensil, I decided I'd like some matching cutlery. I chose these also on a bit of a nostalgia trip; the handle design reminded me of some lovely spoons my mum has which I remember from my childhood.They are brilliant. Pretty perfect balance. I think beautiful and interesting handle design. Long handles, which is good for the big-handed folk in my life and with no irritating sharp edges on the ends of the handles. In fact, I love the way the rounded ends are so simple yet echo the rounding of the spoons, the top of the knife and the slight up curve of the base of the knife blades plus the rounding under the tines of the forks.Practicality: they wash up and dry up beautifully.I liked them so much, I've just bought a second set and got rid of all the old crap!I'll still use my silver bits and bobs when the occasion demands, yet I can't use it every day. But now I've got some lovely cutlery, I really enjoy the idea that whether you're eating 'just' family dinner or shoveling some quick lunch in, these meals can enjoyed in style. And you don't need to summon the imaginary butler afterwards to sort it out.

Ordered Friday afternoon and delivered Sunday morning. Product is perfect and well worth the money.
