Healing with Herbs and Rituals: A Mexican Tradition

Cheo is amazing and his work is phenomenal. I am happy to have been under his tutelage for many years from his programs and offerings. This book is a great offering for those who wish to gather the fundamental information and decide whether it is good for them to continue study.

I love this book I've tried to use orbs 4 years that are mostly Oriental or Chinese medicine and I can't because I react so badly but because I'm used to all these herbs and spices growing up on them in America's my body responds very well to them. I love that there are Spanish and English names. I have a really hard time sleeping so I found out by mixing some of these herbs together or buying 7 Blossom's tea I'm getting a better sleep not the greatest but certainly better

I flew through this book. It was a good summary of many important topics related to curanderismo. The book discussed important terms, some common rituals, a wide variety of healing herbs, and stories about historically significant curanderos. It even suggests other books and authors to consider to learn more. This book has inspired me to continue to read and learn more on the topic.

So I initially wanted to love this book but it kept trying to make and relate everything to religion /Catholicism. This book seems to be targeted at people who are religious and want to feel better about natural healing and curanderismo when it is so boldly looked down upon and shunned by the religious communities. Religions tried to strip these teachings from our indigenous ancestors and almost succeeded. It just wasn’t what I was expecting and not for me.

Well written and very informative

The book is more of a history lesson of Mexican folk healing. It gives a very small amount of healing herb information. I would have loved more but still ok read.

I feel bad leaving a review for a book especially in a topic area I'm interested in. However, don't waste your money. This book almost reads as a child's fable story with very light details on history and events of famous cuideros. If you really want to read it, you can take my copy.

I took Dr. Torres class and this was required reading. I thought he was full if himself till I start reading. He's very insightful and I honestly understand my grandparents more.
