Honestly, for these exercises, this is the most informative.
I'm not into the self-resistance, isometric exercises all that much and one reason for this is because they haven't been explained that well. This is now solved with this book. Not only is it more informative than the Liederman, Atlas and Powerflex courses, it is much more reasonably priced, I could buy 3 of these books for what some of the other courses cost. Powerflex by Jim Forstyek is okay but not as elaborate by any means. Powerflex could easily have more pictures to demonstrate the points. The pictures and explanations are much more concise than I have found elsewhere in Beyond Self Resistance and the author is in the book showing how it is done. Honestly, some of these exercises as I have done and read about it in the past, almost have felt silly to do such as say the Thigh rows and from time to time, the author also imparts some motivational wisdom as well. Also, in a few parts, he demonstrates that an exercise can be done either standing or sitting. I have no problems with the pictures, someone says the front picture is "stretched", well, in reading muscle magazines or whatever, there is a lot of airbrushing of the models that goes on. As for the inside photos, for example, the already mentioned Thigh rows or resisted concentrated curls or resisted pressdown, the pictures and instructions are great. I really don't mean to praise the guy, I mulled around how I would state this review and came to the conclusion this is the best out there. I'm not sure if he mentions why the pages are not enumerated but this is my only question about the book and it's not really a criticism.---------------------Interesting, the stated thigh row and other exercises are very similar to bullworker exercises, of course, with out the bullworker/iso 7x itself.

Excellent bodybuilding manual but has some issues
First, let me get my disappointments with the book out of the way. It's very badly written. It is full of poor grammar and bad sentence structure. I say these things as a professional writer who understands the importance of good writing. It's also cheaply printed and a serif type is used that makes it hard to read. The type is too harsh and dark. Just not at all professional. I offer these comments not as a personal criticism of the author buy only as a professional observation.I really find the book refreshing aside from these things. The exercises are fully explained. Instruction is good -- far better than most books of this type.Marlon tells the reader how many sets and reps to do and how long to hold the reps. They differ somewhat from that prescribed by John Peterson and others. But, I'm sure there's a reason for that. Marlon fully describes all the exercise in the first part of the book. Then he lays out the program. Actually, there are two programs. If you don't already know the exercises, you need to spend some time learning them. In fact, you should learn them his way anyway.I did the first workout today and found it wonderful. It can be as intense as you choose. Marlon suggests you use about 50% strength and that's probably a good idea.Highly recommended.Susanna K. Hutcheson

#1 Self Resistance Course in the World!
First off, I've been following Marlon Birch for quite some time and I've read his book from cover to cover. Personally, I haven't seen any Grammatical errors within the pages of the course. Nor do I think there's any problems with the pictures,They look fine to me.The pictures, explanations and breakdown are much more concise than any Self Resistance book out there.Which is why I can safely say this is "THE" Book on Self Resistance Training.Marlon Birch did an Awesome job in presenting a book/course that cleared up many debates on how to perform these simple self resistance exercises that's been lingering about for some time.In regards to Peterson's book, Birch's book isn't as slick as Peterson's but when it comes to the complete package in terms of Tip Top Information, exercise description and routines to increase and swell those muscles. Marlon Birch is your Man. After all he's the Natural Pro Bodybuilder and a Trainer as well. Who can beat that?I trust Marlon and his teachings, and his book by far--Is the best in the self resistance world I've seen. Marlon knows his topic and is a First-Class Guy.I Highly recommend this book 1000%.

excellent guide to self resistance exercise
Marlon Birch has produced a clearly written guide to self resistance exercises for strength and body building with excellent pictures of himself guiding the reader into the exercises. In his bio in the front of the book Mr. Birch states he has won two Pro-Cards in Natural Federations, being the only self resistance practitioner to do so.First Mr. Birch explains self resistance exercises with good tips for the practitioner. Then Mr. Birch lays out the exercises by body part, so the reader can visualize and understand the exercises. The pictures do a excellent job of instructing the reader into the exercises. This is good as these are not common exercises outside the self resistance world. Then Mr. Birch lays out a 15 week course for an individual to actually do the exercises and see how they will affect his/her body. Everything is well described and well laid out. There is not a problem following the course he intends for the reader to follow into self resistance practice. For an individual interested in exploring the self resistance exercises, this is an excellent guide.

Life Changing
This was easily the best and most complete resource on the Self Resistance style of training available before The Beyond Self Resistance Bodybuilding Course was released by the same author. This Mini Course tells you all that you need to know and more to get what you want out of these methods. The book contains editing errors in grammar on a couple of occasions, but the exercises are clearly and well presented and the training methodologies are explained in full. There are three 3 week routines and a 6 week routine in the book as well as an arm specialisation routine for that final 6 week period.Everything is presented in such a way that there is nothing to ask about, repetition time, stress levels it is all there. Most importantly the methods that the author used to win Natural Bodybuilding titles and the reasoning behind them is given.Meaning that you can finish the book and easily construct your own routines if you choose to.There is information in here that simply wasnt available anywhere before this book was released. The author's own methods. The core routines in the Course each consist of two workouts performed on alternate days for 6 in every 7 days. The first 3 weeks have routines that will take about 45 minutes a day assuming you do some stretching or whatever before and after the exercises. At the end of the first 3 weeks there will be strength improvements and visible results for anyone. After the first 3 weeks it takes more commitment. You also have to write out the routines, put some effort in to doing the exercises and have 3 chairs and a couple of bricks or something equipment wise (I saved the chairs and "recycled" some Breeze blocks). It isn't for everyone, but if you want to change your condition then it ought to work for you.I really recommend this book and wish i had known its contents years ago.
