Lots better than dremel tool
The hand held unit with flex shaft is really nice to use. I saw one review that complained about the foot pedal.... it is kind of like learning to use the clutch but a little practice made it easy to control the speed. Love the real chuck rather than the collects on dremel.... I was alway fumbling for the right one.

Great tool
This is my go to tool. I make my living carving wood, and the foredom is the most reliable tool in my arsenal

Motor works well
The motor and flex shaft are very nice. The variable speed foot pedal is more like a 2 speed, very slow to very fast. Looks like I can get a better foot pedal for about $35 so it's all good.

flex shaft rotary tool
easy to us does just what i wanted it for. not sure how the chuck is put on. but it came off while i was using it. so i think that it is a tapper fit so i gave it a tap with a rubber Malet and it seemed to stay on for now . i hope that is the only problem that i have with it.

Does what it is supposed to
I've never owned an actual foredom I'll admit. However this tool does everything I need it to with flying colors. A huge upgrade from the dremel I was using. The chuck is a little clunky but not enough to cause a problem. It's got plenty of power, cutoff wheels cut through brass like butter, grinding bits grind almost too fast.A lot of these less expensive rotary tools people complain about the foot pedals. This one is a little touchy but with a steady foot I have no trouble controlling the RPMs.If this was priced over a hundred I'd probably give it 4 stars but at the under 70 price point I paid it gets a full five stars

Outstanding piece of Gear
Variable power; forward and reverse. Accommodates 1/4 & 1/8 bit pieces. Lots of power at slow and high speeds. You can really move some wood.

Sturdy and versatile
I wanted to really love this device, but there are some issues. I quickly realized that the limited length of the flex shaft, really limits where you can hang it while working. I tried hanging it from ceiling rafter over workbench, but this limits how much reach you can get from the shaft. I ended up using a pipe clamp to clamp it to the workbench and a C clamp at the top to hang the motor from. Even with this the combination of the slippery hand grip and the rigid shaft couplings can make the motor swing around while using it.The geared chuck I actually prefer to the Dremel lock button/wrench combo, but because the handgrip is so slippery it takes a little while to get used to inserting the chuck key as the cylinder of the handgrip tends to rotate into the way of the opening for the key.The motor has plenty of power.Foot switch is annoying and has a cheap feel. Also the extension cord from the foot switch is not nearly long enough. With the motor hanging 3 feet off the bench, the cord barely reaches the foot switch. Why didn't they make this cord 3 feet longer? Despite this, I was able to get fairly good control of speed from the foot pedal. The including bits and accessories are disappointing. The cutting/routing bit is too small. The arbor for cutoff and cutting disks is useless and hard to use. The included sanding drums are super cheap and wore out after a minute of first use on wood. Wouldn't last more than seconds on metal. Stone bits are OK but I would have preferred one with a steeper angle. So the bottom line is that the motor and shaft are pretty sturdy, but the accessories are of poor quality.I ended up buying a separate kit with a wide selection of bits and this does the job.All of this being said, I would buy this again in preference to the Dremel+shaft equivalent because the motor is so much sturdier.
