This HUB was recently redisigned and updated, and is backed up by exceptional Customer Support
I have been using the Dyconn 10 port USB 3.0 Power Hub for about 9 months now. Recently, the unit started dropping USB port connections and reconnecting erratically. I emailed Dyconn Support about the problem and they replaced my defective unit with a brand new one right away. The new unit I received had been updated or redesigned and was obviously a newer version. However, this replacement unit ended up being defective too, straight out of the box in that the last 4 USB ports on the hub would shut down for no apparent reason after running about a half-day. I could not keep those ports online for more than 24 hours before failing again. I emailed Dyconn Support (again) about the problem, and they immediately sent out another brand new unit with a prepaid shipping label for shipping the defective unit back to them.So you might be asking: Why the five star rating? In my book, a product is no better that the company that supports it and backs it up. Yes, electronic devices fail all the time, both old and new, regardless of the brand. And technology is always (for the most part) being improved upon over previous models or generations. That is just the nature of the industry. So for me, the difference is in the “customer support or customer service”.Since receiving this latest replacement, (while still under warranty), it appears that they got it right this time and the USB connections appear to be solid and stable. From where I come from, providing good Customer Service is EVERYTHING (which seems to be a lost art for many other technology companies these days). Because of this, in spite of the minor inconvenience I had with the previous version failing, it appears that this product has been updated and improved since I made the initial purchase.According to an earlier reviewer (Oct. 2013), the reviewer gave this product a 4 star rating, “because the manufacturer is fully aware of a serious compatibility issue with this, yet they have still not updated the description to reflect this.” He felt they had not addressed the problem. Of course, this reviewer leaves us readers in the dark as to what the actual issue is or was.In the meantime, it appears that some design changes or improvements have been made since that review was written. Therefore I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and consider this to be a “five-star product”. Why? Because this product is backed by a “five-star company, that provides “Exceptional Customer Service”, because they took care of me “immediately”. That is why I have no problem recommending Dyconn products to my friends, because I know they will be taken care of.

but it does the job just fine.
The included set for the 12 port is not a standard rack size, nor do the screws for it fit a rack. They're too small. However, if you have rack screws and don't need it to extend across, you can mount it hanging.Otherwise, it's a USB hub. Nothing exciting or revolutionary, but it does the job just fine.

so far, a very nice USB 3.0 hub
okay, I just got this today but thought i should write an initial review based on what I am seeing so far.ProsSolidly constructed unit. I could more than likely use this as a hammer (wouldn't as hammers are cheaper) but it is that solid a constructionWell packaged in a professionally manufactured box, the unit itself packaged in sealed plastic, along with a cable to connect to the computer (bit on that in a second) and a nice little power block.Instruction manual included (English and well-written at that). I've purchased some highly rated hubs that arrived with no documentation and very cheap construction. The cable is very nice, and thicker than most, more than likely to carry power to all ten connectionsNo loose connections. All connections are tight and don't move once connected. This was the issue (at least it appeared so) with the other hubs as invariably I would hear my computer beep as something became disconnected or worse, a short circuit that would either lock up my computer or wouldn't allow the computer to even turn on (could only turn it on after I unplugged el cheapo hub). I took my keyboard usb connection and plugged it into all ten of them and not one loose, movable connectionI have tried my usb 3.0 external drive and it works fine with just the one cable... no power issues yetDid a very quick read-write test using a usb 3.0 thumbdrive (solid state) and no slower than connecting it directly to the computer (met USB 3.0 standards in both cases)ConsIt is big but more than likely that is necessary to support the size of the board the usb sockets are connected to. I wasn't looking at using this as a hub for my laptop and glad I wasn't.... big to carry as a portable device. I am however going to check and see if they have a smaller one that would be more suitable for a laptopOverall, i am so far (albeit one afternoon) very happy with this. No disconnects, no unidentified usb devices messages, no computer lock-ups, etc. Seems solidly constructed of metal (no plastic here) with what appears to be some conscious thought to make it what they call "industrial grade".All of my computers are running Windows 8.1 Pro so I can't speak to compatibility with other operating systems. Will update if anything happens

Poor Microchip & Power Management Design: Locks Up Hub & Computer
Other than it being a very sturdy device, these are the worst USB hubs I've ever owned. I have the misfortune of owning two of these. Today they've been retired to being expensive over glorified USB slow chargers. The microchip inside that manages power and data to each port will lock up. The more you plug and unplug devices from it without rebooting the hub, the higher the risk of a lock up. What's worse is that when it does lock up it overwhelms the computer's USB root hubs which negotiates connections to external devices, forcing you to reboot the entire computer. Also they will occasionally slow down your boot up times as they don't play nice with some BIOSs. This has happened with both my hubs, tested on various machines and devices when troubleshooting.I suggest buying Anker.

does not work with Macbook Pro Retina
This looks like a really well-made item, with a nicely made black aluminum enclosure and a quality looking power supply. Unfortunately it does not work with the MBP Retina version. Apparently the MBP-R does not work with many of the USB 3.0 hubs out there, and now I know this is one of them. I sent the first one back and Amazon quickly replaced it--when the second one failed to work properly I called tech support and got a helpful live person. They told me it was an issue with my particular laptop and a quick check on the web shows this is indeed an issue. No mention of any plans o correct it. I just wish they put it in the product description as it would have saved me four hours of aggravation! It's too bad, because this is a nice-looking unit. I only minor thing I would add would be rubber feet on the bottom, which is easily correctable. I gave it two stars instead of one because the unit looks good and customer service was available.
