Chamberlain Wall Mount myQ Garage Door Opener, Battery Backup

Worth every penny - should have done it much sooner - battery backup - deadbolt that for me my track had bolt spacing already so no drilling - door closes smoothly and it’s bolted - and no chain grease dripping on the car from the track overhead - install took a couple hours no fighting are arguing with the help one person job - the controller is nice - open close status from the lift instead of a tilt switch on the door - HomeKit missing which is the worst part unfortunately it’s in the myq closed environment but there are some third party HomeKit and matter work arounds - the battery function is limited to only local control or clicker so using myq through the cars software isn’t possible when the power is off but there are simple work arounds for that also if it’s an issue - each clicker used or button is identified in the app so you known who opened or closed it last - the light isn’t the brightest but good enough - door opens fast - just measure to make sure you have the room - i left the wall bracket snug for a couple cycles before tightening them down to let it wiggle into place - you will get accustomed to the confident sounding bolt latch - even with the deadbolt open the drive motor locks the door like overhead doors - you still have a cord to pull to bypass that lock - improvements I can think of are none really other than making it matter compatible at minimum

It's been only a few days since I installed it but I'm at 5 stars right now. Only time will tell how well it holds up. Two major things to know judging by the comments I read before my purchase: 1) There are no install instructions in the box. But once you get this thing unpacked and download the free BILT app you'll never want to see another paper install manual again. The step by step 3D instructions on the app are the best assembly instructions you could ever ask for. Comprehension and install was a breeze. 2) For all you deep analytical types - it doesn't 'mount' on any surface. The entire weight of the unit is supported by the spring shaft itself. You just slide the opener onto the shaft toward the drum. After that there is a small bracket you attach to the unit with (2) supplied machine screws. Then you use (2) larger wood screws to fasten the unit to the stud that your garage door track is mounted on. This keeps the unit from moving to and fro when in operation. That's it. The rest is a cakewalk. When opening or closing you cannot really hear the motor running as the sound of the garage door itself moving up down is louder than the opener. All in all - quiet. Programming and adjustment is also a breeze. The included light is operated wirelessly by the wall controller. You can turn the light on and off manually but when you walk into your garage from the house the light automatically turns on which is a nice feature - and it will automatically turn off after 4 1/2 mins. After WiFi setup you can open and close your garage away from home using the MyQ app and you'll also be able to set up Amazon garage deliveries. I'm really enjoying our new opener. It works great and I highly recommend it!

Super easy to install. The app for directions made everything kindergarten level. The opener is super quiet. Opens and closes the door with ease. I have two car garage single door. Comes with enough wire to rewire the garage if needed. Bluetooth connection was easy and fast. The automatic lock is nice to have. It auto locks and unlocks, but it can also be done manually. The battery backup is good for power outages. I’ve gone through multiple garage door openers over the years and this is by far the best one I’ve had.

If you're thinking about installing a wall-mounted, or "jack shaft" garage door opener, don't sleep on it! Our old, ceiling-mounted opener shook the whole house when the door was opening. This wall-mounted Chamberlain is so quiet that I can only hear it if I'm in the garage. It is truly remarkable! It is very easy to install, as well. If you're comfortable measuring, planning, and drilling a couple of holes in wood and metal, this will be a very easy job for you; just make sure that your garage door is mounted on a torsion bar, as it's not compatible with other types of garage doors. You may need to adjust the torsion spring tension to make sure that the opener doesn't get overloaded. As for the "smart" features, I don't really care for MyQ – it's a pretty mediocre app, and I really don't like the fact that they completely restricted the WiFi operation to be used only by the MyQ app. However, I really didn't buy this for its WiFi connectivity, and I mostly choose just not to use it. Without the "smart" features, this opener is perfect!

I only give this 4 stars as it doesn't come with an installation manual and it requires that you use the BILT App. I did look for instruction that I could print but was unable to do so. The BILT app requires an internet connection so I'm not sure what one might do if they live off the internet grid. The only issues I had installing it was that the end of my door's shaft was buggered up so I had to use my grinder wheel to smooth that out so that the coupler would fit. Then the Safety Sensor brackets would not snap over my tracks so I had to mount them to the wall that the track is mounted to. BILT tells you to refer to options in the installation manual -no manual was included, so I mounted to the wall. They lined up so I didn't have any other issues adjusting them. Another issue is that the Terms of Use and other conditions associated with the "myQ" app indicate that Chamberlain may in the future charge for use of the app! Just what we all need, another subscription! No thank you. This app is for the purpose of operating your opener remotely (as in another place entirely.) So, those are my only issues with this unit. Now for the good things: Probably the easiest installation for an opener as long as you have the clearances needed. You install the coupler to the unit, then slide it over your door's shaft, make some marks for the screws for the lower brace, drill some holes, tighten everything up and your done with that. The unit does not need to be flush with the wall. Its weight is mostly supported by the door's shaft and only braced on one side. Next you mount the control, which I put right below the unit -mainly because I didn't want to have run wiring any further. Then you mount the door lock -yes it comes with an automatic door lock. Then the sensors and then the remote light. Adjusting the UP & DOWN limits is easy. Even without printed instructions (my preference) the BILT app lets you go forward and backward as needed to accomplish each step. The most arduous task is running the wires for the sensors, control and lock. This unit includes a Battery backup so it will operate in a power outage. When your installation is complete and the battery has had enough time to charge, you should unplug the unit so that you can test the Battery operation. The remote light can be mounted anywhere within 6 feet or so of an outlet and there is a motion sensor that turns it on even when the door opener is not running. This unit is very quiet for an opener. It has some features like auto closing that can be programmed or not used at all. There are too many options for the various features to mention in my review. If you can deal with using the BILT app I do recommend this opener. Best garage door opener I have ever had. It’s so quiet, you have to really listen to hear it. It’s also very very smooth going up and down. I’ve had chain and screw type, they are all noisy and clunky, this one just beats them all. I also love the cell phone app to operate it. The battery back is just a sweet option too.

I have had this opener installed for about a month now and it has performed great. I installed it myself and found the BILT app easy to use and plenty (if not too) thorough. Installation was easy and everything worked correctly from the get-go. It's great to get rid of all of the extra hardware involved with my old chain drive unit. This frees up space above the door for storage and also results in much less noise while the opener is operating. The MyQ functionality is nice to have so that I know my family can all have access to the garage from their phones even if they don't have an opener. I can even temporarily share access through the app for house-sitters and Amazon deliveries. The physical dead-bolt type locking function is also nice piece-of-mind to prevent anyone from over-riding the opener and forcing the door open. My only minor gripe would be that only one remote is included with this kit so now I have to spend a bit more to get another. One area of concern for me in going to this type of opener was whether it can handle the weight of my door. My door is pretty old, heavy, and just barely meets the maximum size requirement for this opener, but it passed the test for spring balance (per the instructions) and the opener does not seem to struggle at all. Time will tell, but hopefully this ends up being at least as durable as the 15-year-old unit it replaced.

No legitimate customer service or produce support. None. Installed the garage door opener (on the wall model). Could not program it due to a code flashing, so it never operated. Tried the support website which was clunky and mixed my opener up along with chain and belt drive overhead models in troubleshooting questions that didn't apply. "Chat" was a bot with the same outcome. Called customer support. Got a very loud call center (or family home) with agents who spoke heavily accented English and who didn't know ANYTHING about the opener, merely matched trouble codes with their fault chart and troubleshooting process (which was unhelpful) and couldn't answer a question about it. Finally she deduced the fault required a new logic board because my unit doesn't come with or require a cable tensioner, but the fault was "no cable tensioner signal found". The new logic board arrived after a week and a half and I installed it and started to program it. On the second step, adjusting the door travel, the opener made a clicking/shuddering sound like a clutch slipping and the door wouldn't move. On the next 2 calls the agent just "went away" (one in mid sentence) with an open phone line which I hung up after many "hellos" over 10 minutes. On my 5th call I asked to speak to a supervisor and the nice agent put in the request. After 20 minutes on the line the agent said the supervisor hadn't responded. He took my number for a call back. That was 30 minutes ago. Can't complete the programing until the reason the mechanics of raising the door work. But the agents can't comprehend that... it's not on the fault codes/troubleshooting chart, I guess. I would uninstall it and sent it back but it's past the less than a month that Amazon would allow it. I am an aeronautical engineer with experience and skill in flight test and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and software issues. In a second career I consulted to organizations including some call centers. The Chamberlain "support" organization is ill conceived, poorly organized and has had abysmal performance in supporting me with my issues. And is not responsive to its own failure *** UPDATE: in the Chamberlain Product Support phone system I finally selected the prompt for "contractors" instead of "homeowners". I got to talk with Tyler who quickly captured my situation and from my description of the lated problem with the opener, AFTER I had installed the new control board, said "you need a new opener." He took my information, said I didn’t have to worry about shipping the bad one back, and that was it. It took almost 3 weeks but the complete opener and accessories arrived, I installed and tested it and it works great. The moral of this story is you have to pretend to ne someone who knows what you are talking about to get to speak with someone who knows what HE'S talking about. I know: that seems backwards for any true support, but that's the way Chamberlain has designed it.
