Poorly written presumably for the semi-literate. Irritating typos give bad impression.

Interesting, thin book. It has some nice illustrations, but did anyone proof read it?!

    The Vikings in Britain!

*by A***. on Reviewed in the United States on 13 March 2023*

Well written, easy for the average reader to understand these long ago events. I didn’t know so much fascinating detail existed from Viking times. It was interesting to read about the people and battle strategies of the time. Mr. Baillie is an impressive historian who makes history entertaining. I recommend all three books -- The Great Heathen Army (about Vikings in Britain), The Pagan Lords (in France and Spain), and The Last Viking (1013-1066 AD) – to get a solid understanding. All contain lots of photos of how these locations look today, maps, illustrations, and artifacts. Now I have to check out his series about the Normans.

- The Pagan Lords: The forgotten Viking campaigns of the Great Heathen Army in France and Spain 840 ? 982 AD (the Vikings)
