The Holy Bible from the Ancient Eastern Text: George M. Lamsa's Translations from the Aramaic of the Peshitta

I am a simple student of the Bible. This version was a major development historically in the English language of the Bible by anyone's standards. I agree with critics here that there are some inaccuracies due to Lamsa's personal ideas, but not necessarily the ones that they post here. Nevertheless this is not enough to invalidate the significance of this version. I'm not personally in favour of blunting the edge of truth to pacify humanitarian ideals. This is still currently a valuable item in anyone's study arsenal (review dated 16.02.13).

It is the Holy Book, so it is not as if this particular translation changes everything. . . . still, I have enjoyed reading it and meditating about its message has become a more pleasurable and peaceful time in my daily life. Cannot explain why, it just seem to happen.

Absolutely first class, gives a whole new understanding of the Bible, however wisdom must be exercised in reading or hearing anything.

Best Bible ever in English/Aramaic (The Hebrew dialect Jesus spoke) translation. Read this hand-in-hand with your King James Bible.

As I am studying pre Christian and early history of Europe this book gives insight into the way words can be corrupted through translation. I have been looking for this kind of book and it is very interesting to see the small nuances in texts.

This came in brand new copy and I love how this Bible is written I would recommend to anyone who is weary of how modern bibles have been translated

Purchased this bible because I was looking for one that didn't have verses missing in it - many bibles have been changed in this way. In comparison so far to the other bible I have, this bible is not missing those verses, is easy to understand, and I am more confident in this translation overall.I also like the quality of the paper - similar to printer-paper weight. And the size of the text is perfect - similar to print in a magazine or newspaper.

I have a hard copy of this version of the Bible and prefer it to all the other versions that I have however the copy in Kindle is not easy to navigate. The Bible is not just a book and can't be read as such, I need to be able to quickly find book, chapter and verse without skipping through pages which so far is the only way that it appears that I can find them. With the result that I haven't read it in Kindle, I have gone back to the New King James version that is installed. The book itself explains many things that are unclear, or rather makes sense of obscure passages.
