I'm very happy XTOOL IP819 V2.0 Bidirectional Scan Tool, I've only had it a few days and have already fixed two trucks, found some hidden body control codes on a Fiat, Nissan Quest rear sliding door faults, found a lot of stored codes Ford didn't bother erasing even after they repaired those parts and was able to clear them all. You can save the report before erasing, just in case you need to go back and look at it. What is also nice is that if there are active codes, this tool immediately reports those once the erase has been completed. This scan tool is a quality item that goes in depth as a dealer quality scan tool would. The Live Data, Bi-directional functions and speed are excellent. The actuator tests save so much time and allow for fast troubleshooting. I love all the reset options as well, there are around 39 I think. Reports are professional and can be sent to customers directly via email with all your shop information on the page. It has Wifi connectivity, and I can also connect to internet using my mobile Hotspot when I'm doing mobile mechanic work. Online connectivity is not required to operate this scanner once downloads and updates have been done but it is better to be connected in order to have full use of this powerful scan tool. I like the hard carrying case and the rubber edges on the tablet that help get a good grip, they feel durable and sturdy. The VIN look up and speed of reports are a key selling point for me since I'm usually at peoples home doing mobile mechanic work and need to be fast. It is easy to use and get to where your trouble codes are at. Their customer service is also impressive as well, they respond very fast and are always willing to help as this is my second Xtool Scan Tool. Battery is also good and lasts a long time. This Xtool IP819 V2.0 scanner has already paid for itself in less than two days.

After reviewing I'm absolutely blown away by the XTOOL IP819 scanner! As someone who owns a mix of vehicles (Toyota, Ford, and Jeep), I needed a diagnostic tool that could do more than just read codes. I specifically wanted support for TPMS functions, key and remote programming capabilities, as I've bought used cars and needed extra keys for family. The IP819 handled all three makes flawlessly! Programming keys and remotes was a breeze, saving me a ton of money compared to dealership prices. This paid for the scanner alone. Beyond the key programming, I was also looking for a scanner that could connect to an endoscope, and the IP819 with it's USB-C port delivered! I bought the XTOOL endoscope separately, and it integrates perfectly. This has been invaluable for inspecting hard-to-reach areas well outside the automotive arena. During a recent TPMS DTC issue with my Ford, I had to reach out to XTOOL support. I was incredibly impressed with their responsiveness and helpfulness. Gigi from their support team was fantastic! She consistently replied within 24 business hours, providing clear and concise guidance. The level of customer service alone makes this scanner worth every penny. But the real surprise has been the continuous software updates! XTOOL is constantly adding new features and expanding vehicle coverage. It's clear they are committed to improving their product and providing long-term value. Other companies charge yearly for this support. If you're looking for a professional-grade scanner that can handle diagnostics, key programming, and more, the XTOOL IP819 is the perfect choice. It's a five-star product with exceptional support and ongoing improvements. Highly recommended!

This is an extremely capable and fast scan tool. The speed will depend on your car, as older cars have slower protocols. The choices are somewhat of a maze and you have to know what you're looking for. There's 4 distinct modes of use. (1) Standard ODB2 use that most cheap tools can do. Then there are (2) extended advanced functions that are specific to the make and model of vehicle. Look up the features supported on their website to see what applies to your cars. (3) Bi-directional features where you tell the car to do something (actuate a component) for isolated tested and troubleshooting. This is where you typically have to start paying significant money since this is considered a pro feature. Again, look at the website for specific car feature support. (4) Key copying. (Check website for compatibillity.) I was able to program a used key fob from a famous auction website for my ES350 2016 using this tool. Works great. It takes work to get the most of this tool. The thing is the official manufacturer's tools aren't any friendlier. Some models are trying to address this difficulty of navigation to lay everything out, but they are 2x the price or more and don't have more features. Sometimes less features. So if you don't mind learning the maze, then this is a fantastic device. (You can screen record video on the device and then save via USB to leave how-to notes to yourself.)

The IP819 is a highly versatile automotive diagnostic tool that effortlessly connects to your vehicle's OBD2 port, allowing both vehicle owners and professionals, including mechanics and hobbyists, to efficiently identify and clear diagnostic trouble codes. With its bi-directional capabilities, the IP819 simplifies various tasks related to vehicle maintenance, such as resetting oil life, identity tires after a tire rotation. Moreover, beyond its diagnostic, the IP819 boasts an intuitive touch screen interface, serving as a valuable tool for altering vehicle programming, monitoring live data, resetting fault codes, and pinpointing the root causes of issues. Notably, it possesses the unique ability to program key FOBs, even in cases where all keys have been lost. Updating the IP819 is a breeze, setting it apart from other tools I have used. Simply connect the device to the internet and tap the update option, eliminating the need for special cables or software. The user-friendly approach ensures that the diagnostic tool is always up-to-date and ready to be used at all times. The customer service gets a 5 ⭐ rating. I was having an issue trying to create a key fob. The customer service contacted me and worked with me and the XTool engineers to resolve the issue. I would recommend this product to anyone needing an OBD2 bi-directional scanner. It does everything my much more expensive tools do and more for a fraction less.

I bought this scan tool based on recommendations from one of my favorite Youtube channels. The mechanic recommended Xtools but he also addressed some of the drawbacks or things he did not like. This tool is not for your every day DIYer. This is an advanced OBD scan tool with Special Functions, "Live Data View, Actuation, a couple of programming features, and other helpful integrated features. I experimented with the tool on a few vehicles with different sensors and functions. The tool is a good scan tool and the special functions work as advertised. The Live Data recording feature is a great feature for diagnosing intermittent issues. Xtool has good customer service that generally responds within 24 hours to support their good products. However, if they made some improvements to their software and hardware, I believe users would not have to contact customer service as often. What I did not like about the Xtool IP819 and Xtool in general. They offer a vast number of products and it is difficult to discern the differences in some of their product offerings. This makes it difficult for a prospective customer to decide which scan tool will best fit their needs. Some tools basically offer the same features but in a hardware package that uses a different Android operating system. What can be frustrating is that when I was researching their tools the Specifications, features, etc., of the software, hardware, were not all inclusive. I chose the IP819 based on the information on their website and later learned that I should have purchased another model. I consider the hardware model, specs, software versions, and features an important factor in choosing a scan tool. That includes available add-ons, battery life, compatible devices, etc. The topology, otherwise known as the organizational structure and features of the scan tool software is another issue I had with the IP819. Compared to other scan tools I own, the Xtool was the least user friendly of them all. Some issues included, terminology-acronyms, definitions, logical placement, features and or functions that were specific to one sensor or part were found in other modules. Consequently, navigating through the software was at times difficult, confusing, and time consuming. I did not write down every time I encountered an issue but I do recall one that scared the driver while I was diagnosing their vehicle. I went from Live View to a specific module. Under that module I was surprised to find an actuation feature for testing the horn. I did not think it would work because the horn was not a function for that particular module. When I turned on the horn, thinking it should not work, it did. It scared the driver nearly causing an accident. I don't know if Xtool does this to include a specific number of items available in each scan tool or if it is some repetitive programming accessible through different avenues in the program. To me it adds clutter. If it's not a function of a specific control module it should not be included in another control module. If it is a Special Function whereby it is all-inclusive of all Special Functions the tool features, that is great. But map it out or display it under the correct category. The scan tool did have some pleasant surprises as well. Some features that technically not supported, according to the scan tool and or in other scan tools, were available in the IP819''s Special Functions as in their Live View and or Actuation features. Xtool has a good product that can be improved to make this a great tool. Their prices are very competitive but they are approaching pricing of other competitors who have great Topology, format, and organizational structure of the scan tools, tools and features. I may have recieved a defective unit because I did have some software and hardware issues. The hardware issues were related to the on-off button. On several occassions when powering off the unit that had over 80% battery life, the unit needed to be charged the next morning. I was able to duplicate this issue several times. I made sure the battery was charged, went through the "Power-Off" procedures to turn the unit off and the battery needed to be charged the following morning. Unfortunately, I got a little frustrated with the navigation issues, and other issues mentioned that I returned the unit.
