can I turn off IR night vision to avoid back glare through window installation

Absolutely! You can disable the Night Vision (IR LED) feature in the Tapo app. Simply select the camera, then tap on the word "Auto" (top-right, next to the gear-shaped icon), and select "Day Mode" to disable the IR LEDs. Please be advised that the monitored location should be adequately illuminated at night if you want the camera to reliably pick up details and monitor the location.

Is the cloud storage free?

No. Cloud storage requires a Tapo Care Plan. For more information about Tapo Care plan pricing, please visit our official website.

does tp-link plan on combining the kasa and tapo apps anytime soon? i think it's ridiculous that i need 2 apps, says that this is new version of kc400

Currently Tapo has a beta version of the app able to do this.

Do i need to purchase a sd card & also the subscription monthly to watch what the camera captured each day? or do i just need the subscription?

Hi! No, you do not need both; you can use just the Micro SD card (not included) storage option for 24/7 local rolling recording. For cloud-based storage, a Tapo Care subscription is required.
