Splinters
The shaker eggs are great, but the wooden rhythm sticks are so rough and when I slid my hand up and down on them it gave me a splinter. It definitely needs to be sanded down more before giving it to little children.

Well made, safe for kids. But the claves were too dead sounding.
Great value, which I thought would make a fun gift for toddlers learning rhythms. I wasn't impressed with the sounds though, so keep your expectations realistic. Claves sounded flat, but ok for kids, as they're not holding out for a richer tone. (Although if you handed them Claves made from Redwood, they wouldn't be happy with these anymore. The wooden eggs were smooth and easy to hold in a baby's hand, but barely audible. (A "parents dream", some might say).

The media could not be loaded. As a professional percussionist, I found this set great (especially for the price). The instruments feel nice on the hands -even though the claves are thin for adult hands-, and the carrying bag is a plus.Each clave and shaker has its own tone. Some might sound similar to the other, but never the same. They do not sound loud, but it's a good volume for when "non musicians" are trying to play, so the noise doesn't get too annoying for others. But it also still a good volume for acoustic gigs/environments. If you play the claves (sticks) correctly, you'll find nice tones.*Please watch my video for some examples of how to play these egg shakers and claves, their tones, and volume.

Basic Wooden Hand Instruments
The media could not be loaded. I love that this came with 3 sets for my 3 girls. They are 4, 6 and 7 and we have recently started music classes. We have slowly been adding to our collection and these were a great find. They feel solid and well made. The wood is smooth and well finished. My girls get these out all the time. I love that these include a carrying case as well. Nice little set.
