Excellent companion for a long flight
These are perfect for masking the low-frequency engine noise that makes air travel so stressful. Good sound isolation plus good active noise cancellation equals a wonderful flying experience. Maybe I'm just lucky that these are perfectly fitted to the shape of my ears and the sides of my head, but they provide a great deal of noise-muffling just by putting them on, before I even turn them on, thanks to their good sound isolation. Then when I turn them on, the engine noise just evaporates. Comfortable, too. Relatively light-weight for full-size over-the-ear headphones. Comfortable faux-leather cups. Rechargeable is a nice feature, too.One hack I've found helpful: even adjusted for the smallest possible head size, they don't rest on the top of my head. So I bring along a nice plush face cloth and put that on top of my head between the top of my head and the arm of the headphones. With that simple hack, the headphones fit me perfectly, and as an added bonus, I don't feel any weight on top of my head.

Excellent noise cancellation and quality
I tried two others in this price range. There is a noticeable increase in ANR with these headphones. They are also lightweight and comfortable. The narrow headband is unique to these, while it is sturdy. The fit is secure. They fold up neatly as well. The body is of a high quality plastic with an excellent glossy finish and stylish details. They are not audiophile, as they emphasize the middle range - but this matters little if you are looking primarily for ANR. The only drawback is that the audio cable is not detachable - but it comes with a clip to attach the rolled up cable to your belt loop. It seems that more of the cost is dedicated to quality, rather than to Bluetooth technology, which these omit. Many want to stay away from Bluetooth anyway, at least when it comes to headphones. Last, but not least, there is no latent noise emitted, just a sense of a hushed silence.

Gabage. Absolute garbage.
If you like weird popping noises, or you like your music only coming into one ear and then coming into only the other, or if you like weird whistling and squealing noises, or if you just love being frustrated, then these headphones are for you. However, If you simply expect a product to do what it's supposed to do, you'll be very disappointed. For some background info, I decided to buy some noise-cancelling headphones to use while I mowed my yard this summer. I read some reviews and picked these and man am I sorry. What a waste of money!First off, the battery life is a joke. It takes me about two hours to mow my yard and about halfway through the job, these headphones will start intermittently cutting out because the battery is dying. Second, the sound quality is just awful. Like I said, there's a lot a popping, whistling and squealing noises. Third, the sound usually only comes through one ear phone or the other, but hardly ever both at the same time. Fun, right?I don't usually write reviews and I don't expect much from a product. I just want the things I spend my money on to do what they're supposed to do. I guess in this case, that's just too much to ask. In short, these things are trash and no one should buy them. Pick another product, it couldn't be any worse.

Average but adequate
We bought 2 pairs of these to use on a long-distance (13 hr) flight back from Japan, after being really annoyed by the noise level inside the plane on the trip out. Ordered from Japan, they nevertheless arrived in time for our flight back and were a great comfort. The wired style removes any issues with batteries as long as you have enough power in the audio source to run them. Overall quality is average; I would not not be sanguine about them holding up in heavy use. Sound quality is also average. Noise reduction is adequate but not great; like other phones, they do not attenuate speech frequencies, so if you're in a busy conversational area, they won't help you much. With that said, they don't give away much to Sony phones priced $20 or more above these and are a good value at their price point.

Good noise canceling, defective audio reproduction
Noise canceling works surprisingly well, though this is first active noise canceling headphones I've ever tried, so comparing it with what people say about other similar headphones. However I received what seem to be defective headphones. When playing audio through the headphones the sound is echoish, with little stereo separation, on some material I hear what sounds like phase shift distortion. I assume units working properly do not sound like this. If mine is defective it speaker poorly for the quality control/reliablility of the product. If this is how this model sounds, in general, this is a major fault.
