Metafiction: The Theory and Practice of Self-Conscious Fiction (New Accents)

I always suspect that "the world we live in is in fact a fiction." The first step to reveal this "meta-ness" is to be conscious - like the characters become aware of their own construction. Perhaps this the the answer to "why consciousness?": to break the frames and to unlock the the great chain of being. I wish there are more books exploring this topic.
