SILCA Chain Bike Chain Cleaner and Liquid Wax Bundle - 4oz Bottles

Easy enough to use for casual user's city bike. It's wax so unlike oil based lube, it's not greasy at all. My pants go from an un-washable mess with stain mark, to now I don't need to worry about it, the wax dirt stuff that get on my pants will wash off even with regular cold water wash cycle. The chain cleaner should/is only needed very rarely. Once waxed all that's needed is to wipe off with cloth and re-wax. I used the cleaner one more time by accident to get my chain sparkling clean but learned that it's too harsh for regular maintenance. In the future if I need to make it super clean I just need to use hot water to melt it all away.

It works. My chain is now lubricated using wax. The 2-step process was straightforward - I did not have to remove my chain. Compared to a hot wax option I believe I’m getting the majority of the wax benefits without all the hassle. I suspect this approach will become the new norm. The chain is easy to clean after a ride. It still gets a little black here and there, but overall much, much better than a non-wax option.

Great way to get started on switching from oil to wax. While not quite as good as immersive hot waxing, this kit offers most of the same benefits, but only if the initial instructions are scrupulously followed for either a new chain or a used chain with low wear that has been thoroughly cleaned. There are dozens of youtube videos showing how to get started and maintain a clean, quite drive train that will last much longer between parts replacements.

Used on my bike chain will under 300 miles on it. Wow what a difference!. So clean so quiet. I did 2 layers immediately and then a 3rd after a ride. Liked it so much i did my wifes bike. In fact ive now ordered their cleaning kit, hot wax and matone. All in thanks to this product

Great combo. Wax is nice for quick service. Lasts a good while the easy to re drip. Bottles seal up, just toss in a bag of tools.

I did not think this product would make a difference on my bike, however I was wrong. After thoroughly cleaning the chain, I found this product easy to drip on. When I rode the next day, I found the chain tracked smoothly and it felt like a new chain. I don't know how long it will last, but there are many, many applications in the bottle because I used only a drop on each link. Smooth and easy.

For background info, I started biking for fitness in early May, after 30 years utilizing only motorized four wheeled transportation. I ride almost exclusively on residential streets, averaging 3-4 times a week for about an hour. So roughly 80 hours and 1,000 miles of cycling thus far. Personally, I think the SILCA Professional Grade Bike Chain Cleaner and Liquid Wax product is overrated. The company expends a lot of energy marketing it as some sort of scientific genius way to lube a chain. And I admit, I fell for it. I bought this 2 Pack Starter Bundle when my new bike's chain was needing some TLC. I didn't drip the product, I actually removed the chain and placed in a flat pan. I agitated the Chain Cleaner product over it off and on for at least ten minutes or more. Yes, it got all dirty from the pollutants it was removing. However, in the end the chain still had a lot of scoring on the sides of each link. So I'm not sure how "clean" it was. I've used high-percentage rubbing alcohol on metal hand tools, and it does a better job. I'm just not sure the alcohol would be safe on a chain. I certainly would not buy the expensive SILCA Professional Grade Bike Chain Cleaner again. After rinsing the chain in cold water, I placed it back in the same flat pan and dumped the entire bottle of Liquid Wax on it. Again, I let it soak, agitating from time to time. Eventually I hung it over a hook and let it drip dry for 24 hours. Once the chain was reinstalled, I ran it through each gear while peddling with my hand for a few minutes. At first, I wasn't super happy with the wax. It seemed to be louder than before, and there was a lot of buildup. After a few weeks, I used brushes to remove excess wax/dust from the chain, applied a drop of wax on every chain link, and let it set for 24 hours. At that point the chain was very quiet and smooth. I'm trying Dumonde Tech Lite and Muc-Off C3 Ceramic Dry Chain Lube chain lubricants on my other bikes. To me, SILCA Liquid Wax is no better or worse than those others. The recommended application process certainly is a hassle. UPDATE: SILCA had some sort of glitch sale on the 8 oz. bottle of SILCA Super Secret Bike Chain Lube during Black Friday. It was listed for $30 instead of the usual $45. I ordered on November 29, 2024 and as of January 15th, 2025 it still has not shipped. I don't care how long it takes, I am going to wait for SILCA to fulfill this order.

Der Chwin Stripper funktioniert sehr gut um die Kette vor dem Wachsen zu entfetten. Das Kaltwachs habe ich noch nicht verwendet da ich die Kette mit Heißwachs von Silca behandelt habe.

J’ai testé de nombreux produits pour entretenir ma transmission, mais celui-ci sort clairement du lot. Le décapant SILCA est tout simplement redoutable : en quelques minutes, il dissout graisses, huiles et saletés incrustées. Un conseil : prévoyez torchons ou serviettes en dessous de la chaîne car ça décrasse vraiment à fond, et tout ce qui coule est... noir ! 😅 Quant à la cire Super Secret, c’est un vrai coup de cœur. Elle s’applique très facilement, ne coule pas, pas besoin d’en mettre beaucoup, et le résultat est bluffant : la chaîne reste propre, ça glisse tout seul, et ça ne colle pas. Franchement, je ne pensais pas que ce type de lubrification pouvait être aussi efficace et propre à l’usage. 🔧 En résumé : un kit entretien premium, qui vaut vraiment le coup si vous aimez rouler avec une transmission nickel. Je recommande à 100 % !
