Energy Bars, Real Peanut Butter, 2.29 Ounce (Pack of 15)

As a busy 'soccer mom', I keep a supply of snacks in my car at all times to tide us over in between meals or even replace meals while avoiding the unhealthy fast food habit. Most protein or granola-type bars don't sustain us for very long and they also either melt in the heat of spring/summer or get hard as a rock in the colder temps in fall/winter in my car. Not so with Soldier Fuel! These bars truly do provide sustainable energy and keep their shape and texture, no matter the weather. We have only tried the peanut butter flavor, they taste like 'Bit o'Honey' candy that I remember from childhood. Not too dense, or hard to chew and swallow, really quite tasty. Highly recommended for 'car snacks' and/or for an emergency food kit.

I started purchasing Soldier Fuel bars two years ago to put in my bug out bag and family cars as emergency bars. I liked the fact that they have a 3 year shelf life and a fair amount of protein.When I received my first shipment two years ago I looked up the Julian Date code and was able to translate it, but didn't know if it was the expiration date of the mfg date, so I wrote the company. They said it was the mfg date, meaning that I had the full three years left on the shelf life. Great!Two years later I'm looking to rotate them out and purchased some more. This time the date code translates to a mfg date of 8 years ago... so I write again, asking if they are really that old, and if so, can I get a fresher replacement.I got a response from one of the owners (cool!) stating that the date code is the expiration date, meaning that I have about 17 months of the 36 claimed shelf life left. I want at least 2 years, so I wrote for clarification; Which info is correct, and can I exchange them for bars a little closer to their 3 years of claimed shelf life. I wrote three times over two weeks and never received a clarifying response.So I have no idea how old these bars are, or when they expire, and don't feel I can trust them for my family. So back they go.Disappointing considering all I wanted was a clarifying response and at least 2/3 of the claimed shelf life.So now I found Millennium Bars, which don't have quite as much protein, but have a 5 year shelf life, are US Coast Guard approved and more calories per bar. I'm going to give them a try.6/22/2018 UPDATE: I did finally get a response from the company, assuring me that the date code is the expiry date, but did not get an offer to exchange the product for a batch with more shelf life left. I had also already sent them back.6/28/2018 UPDATE: Wrapper Failures - I put a few of the bars from two years ago in the emergency kits for my wife's and my cars. We live near the North Cascade Mountains and end up driving over the pass several times a year. I pulled them out to replace them and found that there was a greasy substance on the wrappers inside the ziplock bags I had them in, and all the wrappers were open on one end. Unwrapping the bars completely they were coated in a shortening-like substance.My assumption is that two years in the trunk, going between hot and cold, caused some of the oils to separate and congeal. Driving over the pass and the associated pressure changes caused the packaging to burst.The bars did not seem to have any noticeable bad odor, and tasting it carefully it did not seem to have "gone bad" - they were still consumable.However - If you are planning to store them in your car I would definitely store them in a zip lock bag so they don't leak grease onto the rest of your supplies.

I received my shipment on time and in great shape. I bought them for a car emergency kit but had to try one. They aren't candy bars or cookies but are surprisingly tasty. The consistency is a little different kind of like a dense date bar and chewy, but it isn't off putting. Very filling and doesn't leave you thirsty. The bars did not have a date on them but the one I opened was fresh. Hopefully I will never need them but if I do they will certainly keep me going for a few days.

Looks like a good company, and the product's high reviews will outweigh my negative one. Maybe I'm the only one with a bad experience, but I am so disappointed I had to review. I stored these in my bedroom, and opened nothing except the outer box. Three months later, I'm going to put them in my pack and I see they are all sticky. Apparently some of the bars had come open at the end were it is sealed. I don't believe the temperature in my room had ever exceeded 80 degrees F., and is usually at 68' F. I'm not sure at what point or why they came open, but I had not handled them much at all. I picked out two unopened ones, and found they came open at the end way too easily. I checked my clif bars stored for around the same time in the same place. They had no such issues, and were sealed nicely. I'm not going to eat these if the've been opened, so I have no idea how they taste. Perhaps, it was the shipping, but I don't know.I wouldn't order these now even if they were sealed right, because they have a lot of soy. I didn't realize that when I ordered them, so that had no impact on my rating. I don't understand how these would hold up back packing if they won't hold up stored in the box. Hope others will enjoy them, but I'm just highly disappointed.

The bars are tasty and great for snacks when you need food and don't have much room. Knocking off a star as the packaging has a serious flaw: The oils in the bar + any heat seem to break down the seal of the packaging and cause them to come open... not good for a emergency bag/hiking bag/etc. I hate to ding two stars for that, but it has been a SERIOUS issue causing ruin of several of these bars for me. :(

Subj. Items are essentially the same as the HOOAH! bars originally developed for issue by the U.S. Army. Only difference is the current manufacturer and the packaging --and they no longer come in the additional Apple Crisp and Berry flavors -now only Peanut Butter and Chocolate.Have used 'em in the Army, and eventually found them in civilian market by contacting the original manufacturer, who led me to current mfd. Subj. bars are by far the best energy bars available, and among the tastiest -unlike most most other bars I tried, I have not gotten tired / nauseated by them when used during long hikes.Bottom line: Hooah!

Fast shipment! We discovered these bars in one of our charity bike ride events. It filled and fueled us up! They are VERY TASTY! Very filling and I'm impressed the carb count is pretty low! These are my favorite go-to energy bars. Peanut butter is very good. I haven't tried the other flavor(s).
