Powerful and pretty easy to use for rapid fire but heavy and a bit unwieldy
I gave this Zuru X-shot Insanity Mad Mega gun 5 stars on the insistence of my son, and to be fair there are some very good points about it. As the adult though I will temper his exuberance over this nerf-style gun with a few points that parents may want to consider. There are no photos of the packaging but you will have to trust me ours arrived securely packed in a large (much larger than we thought - eek!) cardboard box with a sort of display box (as it is found in shops) in side that but no polystyrene. It all arrived okay and I have no negatives re that. Except, that the display box to which it was secured was a nightmare to get the gun off. There's a dotted line to cut along the top so you basically have to cut the box open to get the thing out. What happens if it is faulty and you need to return it? There is no way to do so with the original packing, which in my view is really badly designed and highly irritating. Thankfully it all seems to work okay. There's not much in the way of instructions but we had already watched a video of someone setting one up and so my son was ready in a flash after the lengthy disentangling of it from the display box. What you get is the gun, 72 darts, a ridiculously large circular ammo feed, plus some clip-on ammo holders, which in my view don't add much and get in the way, but my son likes them. Once assembled the gun needs to be primed by pulling the barrel grip towards you and then back again and it is then ready to fire by pressing the trigger. It's louder than other, smaller X-shot guns of this type that my son has plus it fires further, faster and more accurately. It is not ideal indoors and I would suggest maybe eye protection would be optimum. It is very accurate and we experienced very few feed problems for the foam darts. It's a weighty thing, plus the ammo ring makes it very unbalanced, but it is fun to use. My son particularly likes 'slam firing' which is where you hold the trigger and fire using the barrel grip to achieve more rapid rates of fire. I was impressed that the darts go where they are aimed much more so that other guns that we have tried. Overall I cannot deny that my son really likes this. It was his choice though we tried to steer him towards a slightly smaller, easier to store X-shot gun that has a belt feed because this loop is just so big. We haven't yet been able to break down the ammo loop again into its parts for easier storage and will have to watch a video maybe to see how it is done as it requires some oomph, but we don't want to accidentally break it. The price is in my view very good, though it is very plasticky and has stickers rather than a fancy finish and apart from the colours is quite plain. Ultimately though it was my son's money and his choice and he really, really likes it. My only advice as a parent is to think about how big it is with the ammo ring attached, the weight/balance of it if your child is young, and the speed/range of the darts it fires as it isn't ideal to be honest for use in small house like ours.

Great toy sniper
Excellent toy sniper gun. My son loves this gun, it works well and is powerful enough to shoot the bullets a good distance. It looks good and holds a large amount of ammo. It’s a good toy for the price.

Super fun!
Good because it fires the size of my garden and really big holds a lot of bullets and it comes with all the bullets so that you don’t have to get your own.

Great price, but box has picture on!
Got this at bargain price of £19.99 to go with the 3 others in the insanity series which my sons have asked for from Father Christmas but be careful when it’s delivered as the box has a picture of the gun and X Shot all over it!! I had to do some quick thinking to explain it!
