The rapid pace of recording in the early to mid 1960s meant that a lot of material fell by the wayside. However, the quality of the songs and performances at hand were not necessarily the cause. Left In The Can spotlights tracks that were recorded by hit recording stars (1960-1969) but didn't manage to receive a contemporaneous release. Imagine a collection full of instantly recognizable tunes that you've never heard. 30 tracks with 18 tracks in STEREO and a full colour 16 page booklet with rare pics and liner notes. The artists you know - the songs you don't. Paradise!
Wow! This is a great compilation! Unlike some reviewers that found the title misleading - I thought it made it quite clear that these tracks were 'ORIGINALLY' unissued at the time during the 1960's. I already had at least half of these tracks on various cd's dotted around my collection - mostly on Ace records, Bear Family and Collector's Choice cd's. To my surprise there were at least 5 or 6 tracks that I didn't have already and were new to my ears that are fantastic. These new discoveries are 'Children & Flowers' by the Duprees, 'You were wrong about me' by Bobby Rydell, 'Pick up the pieces' by Jay Black and 'He did a lot' by the late great Bobby Vee. The sound quality is good for the most part - the recording levels are a bit up and down from track to track - which is a minor niggle. Overall, my conclusion is this - if you already have some of these tracks I would still recommend buying it as you will discover at least 2 or 3 new gems. If you have hardly any of these tracks - BUY IT NOW! 10/10. Not a duff track I sight.

More good stuff from Teensville.
I had seen this listed in the 'customers also bought' section a few times, but never really checked it out. A listener to one of my programmes on Lincoln City Radio told me about it (thanks Phil!) saying some of the tracks might be suitable for my mystery artist feature. Ideal, on seeing the artistes, I decided to give it a try, and I'm pleased I did. Some of the artistes are more than familiar, but not the songs, so more than useful. I've only recently discovered Teensville Records, bought a few of them and they are in my opinion, superb. I think they might give Ace Records a bit of a run for their money, sound quality is excellent, as is the very informative booklet. Buy Teensville, you won't be disappointed.

Some hidden gems
The great mystery is why these tracks were never released. 29 American tracks + 1 by Adam Faith Among those to be found here are tracks by Connie Francis, Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney, Del Shannon and the Everly Brothers. plus a number by groups. Idid not find a track that I disliked.
