I already own Qidi machines so i know how good they are. I had heard that this machine was going to be released and really wanted one. The idea of being able to complete my prints faster and better quality really appealed to me. I ordered one as soon as it become available. Just like their other machines, it works straight out of the box and the instructions are easy to follow. It really is a great looking machine. Nice big build volume, normal and hot temp extruders and also a heated chamber. All this for under £900. A total bargain. Prints that use to take me 3 days now take 9 hours and the quality is really good. If you should encounter an issue, then Qidi's customer support has to be experienced to be believed. It is so rare for people to be so helpful these days. It's what drives me to go back to them time and time again.

This was my 2nd 3D printer, having had and learned on an Anycubic Kobra. As my knowledge and skill had started to outstrip what my little Kobra could do, I started looking at a new printer. The benchmark in 3D printing circles for "top quality" has always been Bambu, and I was all set to buy one until I came across QIDI. I spent a long time doing research on what machine was best for me, and finally I decided to go with QIDI, and opted for the X Max 3. What a step up! This machine has been incredible. Mechanically it is sound, giving perfect prints of all types of materials and handling them all with ease. Compared to what I was used to, the speed of prints is unbelievable. It honestly will do anything I throw at it, with the only limitation being my design skills. To say I am impressed is an understatement. It's such a joy to print with this machine. One thing that really swayed me on my decision to buy this was the reputation QIDI have for customer service. I have inevitably needed to reach out to customer support for help a couple of times. Each time, Linda has been brilliant and really thorough in helping me figure out a solution to my issues. None of them have been extensive problems or mechanical failures - despite the price, these are really well made - but I have had parts sent out FOC that have arrived in a matter of days. They really look after you and honour their warranty. I have 2 QIDI machines now and can attest to that in both cases. There are extensive mods and upgrades that can be done, and I've done a few of them on my machine just to really dial it in. But honestly, this will print out of the box pretty near to perfectly as it is. And for this price point, I really don't think anything can touch it.

IF YOUR PRINTER DOES NOT TURN ON - SWITCH OFF AT MAINS AND UNPLUG! My X-Max 3 printer arrived - I plugged it in and switched it on at the mains and the rear switch, which illuminated. The machine did not boot up. I tried again (off and on) with no effect. I turned it off and moved the printer onto its side to take off the bottom panel. Underneath, I found a lethal error which should have been caught by the most basic QC check. THE LIVE CONNECTION WAS WIRED TO THE CHASSIS EARTH. If you understand basic electrics, you will likely be horrified. If you don't - what this means is that the normally safe, exposed metal parts of the printer were LIVE at 240 volts. Which can kill you. The earth connection to the plug was wired to where the live should have gone, by the way - I swapped the two, mixed up blade terminal connections over and the printer booted after that. This kind of fault is inexcusable and should never have left the factory. QIDI leadership need to take a look at what is going on in their quality control process for this to make it out of the door. The fact that the machine did not power on shows that nobody connected a mains cable to it to check that. Who knows, this may be a one in a million but IT COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. I would love to rate higher than 1 star - printing performance is excellent, but others can attest to that. I can only rate it based on my personal experience as a whole, and that is: I am fortunate to have lived through it. See pictures, prior to being fixed: The live connection comes in at the bottom green circle, goes through a connecting metal plate, a fuse, red wire, switch and then out via the yellow wire at the top green circle - straight into the chassis. Picture of connection to chassis shows the 240 volts vs neutral...

Good points: The machine is well made and solid. It probably could be used for small industrial production. The hot bed is solid and thick. The printer is easy to use and setup. Most parts that are printed have good integrity but I’m not an expert so I may not have set up machine to get the best from it. The support staff try hard to help and reply every day. Linda tries hard to help you. You can connect to the machine via Qidi Slicer Fluidd and change live print parameters and machine settings. The software is open source originated from Prusa. Points to improve: Z axis calibration. Print head to bed height adjustment setting needs to be set very carefully. This could be automated like other machines. You need to set the gap exactly right to get good prints. Some prints have bits missing occasionally but that could be a slicing setup issue down to me. A few times the printer filament stopped feeding but the machine kept running. The filament run out sensor was not working. Need better filament feed tube and spool holder design. I did a recent firmware update and the system hung up and locked. The support staff help you get through the problem and reply within about 12 hours but it took a week to fix before the fault could be understood. The company need better tutorials and instructions because this is probably a good machine that people need to understand better. Security issue might be an issue according to what I read on the web but you can connect via ethernet or USB so the machine is isolated for the web.

Fast Delivery. QIDI X-Max3 3D Printer. The 3D printer is Large and Heavy and Beautiful Built, solid as a rock. The print quality is the best I have ever seen, and I have owed 2 other 3D printers but the quality was always substandard. I invested the QIDI printer and I have not a single regret, solidly made, robust and easy to set up, the screen gives you all the information you need, the slicer s/ware is also very intuitive and easily mastered. As stated, the print quality is brilliant, you could easily sell any print, the quality is that good. I use it for my Amateur Radio hobby and print stands for my radios as well as other requests from my friends. I have no problem in giving QIDI a full 5 star review for this printer and their great customer response, The company have been very helpful in giving me advice on how to get great prints from their printer, love the live Z axis adjustment when putting down the initial first layer print.

Biggest build area of a modern 3D Printer, fast prints, good quality and robust machine. These printers are open source so you can make upgrades. I came from Bambu Labs printer. Bambu Labs have awful service! And when I mean awful they are the worst!!!! If something goes wrong you will be waiting for weeks for replacement parts! This means your sitting on a dead 3D printer until parts arrive. So instead of waiting i bought this X-Max 3! And they smash Bambu Labs out the water by miles!!!! My Bambu Labs printer is going back for a refund, just had problems after problems! And it’s been 5 weeks and still waiting for Bambu to send me a refund!! See what I mean??! They are like sloths when responding. So wish you all the luck if you buy a Bambu. Anyway back to Qidi - I had a small issue with a part, no questions asked they send me part. It was here next day. Less than 24 hours I had new part! (Bambu it took them 3 weeks for a spare part!!!). Machine prints on the Qidi are great, you can tweak every little thing on them so the prints come out great! It’s very user focused and lets users have more control. But with Bambu it’s automated, if something goes wrong you need to speak with Bambu. Very long process. With Qidi it’s a few tweeks and the social media support from other users is brilliant. Forget Bambu, waste of time and money! Get a Qidi and you will never look back!!!!!
