The Book of Runes

This little book is a little treasure. Many will say the meanings are not correct, but they are actually quite close and quite good for a brief understanding. Just remember there are many aspects and layers to Runes. Your experience & understanding of them will go deeper the more you work with them over your lifetime.. respect and love them. This book has a wonderful energy behind it X

Was this a great arrival; thank you, excellent description. Runes were untouched and book was pristine thanks. Box was immaculate and one inch of sellotape had it like Perfect as new. I have owned a red copy of this before and did really like the richness of that version and its impact on the eye. This is an anniversary copy and as such I get the colour change. Great to have a copy again.

I was really glad to finally get this book, having fond memories of this classic. However slightly disappointed that I didn't get those smooth pebbley runes that I knew. These runes don't have the same feeling. They are white, sharp edged and feel rough to the touch. Missing that tactile comfort of the old set. However always was a classic on runes, and the white book is prettier..after Tolkien maybe

I bought this for a friend as she was so impressed when I did a rune reading for her. Runes help us to tap into our own soul's deeper knowledge. Ralph Blum's book & runes give really definitive meanings.

Very happy with the information in this book. Just learning and the bonus with this book is it comes with a set of runes to practice with. Book is easy to understand for beginners.

I have this book myself and bought this copy to send to a friend of mine in NZ. There is much debate about who interprets the runes in the best way bit I have to tell you that having used this one for years I find it works for me!

Firstly, yes, the book comes with runes, which I didn't need or want. I wondered why there were no photos of them on the product page? They are horrible to handle... Made from ceramic (which one may assume would be smooth?), although of good size and substance, feel like handling rough chalk... Horrible on my fingers, horrible to pluck one out of the bag. I'll stick with my lusciously smooth black obsidian stones, thank you very much. The ceramic ones needed to be disposed of, unfortunately. Runes aside, the book, which is what I wanted.... Firstly, a great little self-help book (which I didn't want) for being introspective and finding a positive path of getting to know oneself better. Really not what I wanted or was expecting... As a Book of Runes or Runelore and mythos and history and authentic spiritual interpretation, truly dismal. The interpretations are so basic and, ironically enough, soulless, there is no opportunity to explore the cultural meaning or significance behind each one. And for goodness sake, the runes aren't even presented in traditional Futhark order... simply the order the author "discovered" them during his organic experience of coming to know them. Literally half of this book is useless to me, and incredibly disappointing. So what about the other half? Yes, there's some refreshing thinking and new perspectives, which will become useful to me no doubt in the future. Also, the book itself is quite physically lovely, with thick pages and a tidy golden embossment on a cloth cover. Lovely little book, just wish the content was more suitable for me! It's a good self-help book, in particular because the author was clearly trying to help himself with them, and basically tell his story of exploration and discovery. Just not for me, I'm afraid.

I bought this book decades ago, and I discovered I had a gift for divination. Sorta put all that aside for a very long time, but my interest was rekindled lately. The book is still just as good. A lot of people say Blum oversimplified interpretation of the runes, but I find that you can accomplish a lot starting from his interpretation. The set of runes that came with the edition of the book I bought decades ago were also made of ceramic - not the best, but at least they were glazed and smooth. They felt good against my fingers when I rummaged around the bag and placed the runes down. These latest runes look cheap from the moment you open the box, and - even worse - the ceramic is not coated. Yes, handling them is like having to put up with someone racking their nails across a blackboard. it's that bad. I don't know what Blum thought he was doing. I'll keep the book, of course. But I'll buy another set of runes.

I came across Runes from the original book so many years ago. Getting this is like nostalgia washing over me!!!!

El libro vale la pena, pero las runas están hechas como de yeso, no están bien terminadas y se ve que con el uso van a empezar a desgastarse demasiado rápido. Si buscas esto por el libro no tiene desperdicio, pero sí te recomiendo que compres un set de runas a parte.

Das Buch enthält sehr gute Informationen über die Runen, ihre Bedeutung. Die mitgelieferten Runen sind schön gearbeitet, mir gefallen sie aber nicht, da sie auf Steinen sind und nicht auf Holz. Ich finde die Runen auf Holz / Horn oder Knochen fühlen sich einfach besser an. Natursteine wären auch noch schön gewesen aber dieses Material erinnert an Schleifsteine.
