Julian Bowen King Size Bed, Oak

Bought this bed to replace an old metal bedframe. Lovely looking bed and very sturdy.

What can I say about this bed except that it is both superb in manufacture qualityand stylish too!I find it is very difficult to determine the quality of an item purchased online from just photographs alone, That is why I always place such importance on fellow Amazon shoppers feedbacks. I find this invaluable at times. This double oak bed arrived and was every bit as good as we had hoped for. It arrived to us in three sepearte well packaged boxes all at the same time. Please note that the boxes are all quite heavy to carry upstairs and therefore assistance would be required. I would say that assembly was quite straight forward and basic tools were supplied with the bed for assembly. I did the man thing and began assembling the bed without the instructions, Well this went well and we ended up with a well manufactured and stylish bed at a great price. I would definitly reccommend this bed to anyone.This bed is in our spare room and I therefore dont know yet if it squeaks! If all goes well I may just do an update after my birthday in April!!

We got the super king and its massive. Just huge! That being said the bed is extremely solid and feels really well made. The wood is really nice and not laminate. The bed comes with a little manual explaining about waxing and maintenance which is nice. My top tip: spend the 25 quid and have the delivery guys set it up - especially if its upstairs. This was delivered by two big units and they earned their pay on this - not something to tackle solo for sure.

Great quality. There are two supports in the centre of the bed which can be seen underneath and which do spoil the otherwise clean lines. Very easy to assemble, no glue, and fits together very well.

The bed is great; good quality and a stylish design.Amazon wasn't the cheapest source for this item, but I trusted them to deliver in time.The service on fulfilling this order however has redefined my relationship with Amazon.It was shown as in stock with courier delivery when I ordered on 5th December.However this became a continued fiasco until delivery was finally made on 18th December.Throughout the process, it was impossible to get a sensible answer from Amazon; rather misleading availability info was constantly given until they came clean about the problems once it was impossible to source elsewhere.Understandably Amazon's systems are designed to work reliably.However, in the event of a first failure, their systems seem incapable of recovery, rather spiraling out of control.The fulfillment partners Arrow Excel match their incompetence: 2 man delivery where 1 man carries 30kg items into the house, which results in him knocking lighting, walls, staircases & furniture. Thanks.Overall just a stressful farce that I don't need in my life.I have purchased from amazon regularly each year since 2000 and have been an Amazon advocate.However, my New Year's Resolution is to buy nothing thru 2015 in recognition of their appalling customer service levels on this order.As I said, great product, but buy it elsewhere.

Dont bother wasting your money, time or effort!The brackets for the bed dont fit, I hadnt noticed this is a common fault with the bed reported by others until I rechecked.Easy enough to build but the packaging is horendous, especially when Amazon insist you pack it all back up to return!I contacted Amazon about the bracket issue, their only response having spoken to several customer service representatives from India, US and UK is return the item for a full refund!I even emailed Julian Bowen customer services who state not their problem as the bed is bought through Amazon and refer you back to Amazon customer services!Honestly, you will have hours of displeasure unpacking, building, dismantling and repackaing this item.

When we decided to buy a superking sized bed, we were a little concerned that it would overwhelm our bedroom. This bed is quite a light colour of oak and minimises its impact with its design. It came very well packed and with clear instructions; only a screwdriver is needed to complete the assembly as the spanner (small but perfectly adequate) is included. It takes a moment to understand how to insert the cross-members but the whole assembly took less than an hour including unpacking. I thought the price was exceptionally good and the service throughout exemplary.
