Took the chair on a 12 day trip to Philmont Scout ranch. It is super comfortable! People were envious of the high back. It is no longer as functional. There are two little black plastic pieces that hold the elastic to the poles that form the front part of the seat. I don't know what is used to keep those attached to the chair, but they are now missing after standard and careful use. I can still use the chair, but those two poles are no longer attached and the elastic is in the way to insert them. I'll try to fabricate something to hold it all together. Hopefully, this is improved in the next design because it is an awesome chair. Contacted support and they sent me replacement parts no charge. changing to 5 stars

The chair is comfortable and fairly light. Using trekking poles for the high back support is innovative. I always use poles, so that cuts down somewhat on the weight of the chair frame, but is also offset by the larger chair fabric because of the high back. It is a bit low to the ground compared to other camping chairs, which makes getting out of it a bit awkward. If you have your own poles, you can buy the chair without the "Goat Stix" trekking poles. I do not recommend this. I did buy the combo, but used my own very expensive carbon fibre poles the first time since they were much lighter than the provided ones. However on my third day of a 3 day hike, both my poles snapped off at the bottom insertion point. They were fully inserted, I'm nowhere near the weight limit, and I wasn't using it as a rocking chair. I didn't see any warning about using other trekking poles than the ones from the same company, but perhaps there should be. Now I'm worried about using the Get Out Gear poles. What if they snap too? Well, at least their is a 5 year guarantee, but how can you prove you weren't abusing the chair if it breaks. Update: Using the Get Out Gear poles, the tip of one of the poles snapped off. As before, it was fully inserted and I was careful getting in and out of the chair. So it's only a matter of time before a pile breaks. I got an email from the founder on original purchase saying "they read and respond to all emails". I never got a response to any email I sent. Customer support us also unresponsive or slow. I won't be using this chair again.

This is the most amazing two for one set up. I am pretty sure that this piece of gear has become my favorite for all things outdoor; whether you are camping, hiking or backpacking, it is perfect for all of these activities. The Get Out Gear TrekChair has a permanent place in my car now. The entire setup takes up very little space in my car and I can't believe how overall lightweight it is. My son and I hike quite a bit so I already owned hiking sticks. I always thought that the ones I had were very lightweight but the Get Out Gear poles definitely have my old sticks beat in the weight category. Even the chair setup is lighter than my lightest backpacking chair. So if you are a backpacker, this is definitely for you because I know how every saved ounce counts when trekking long distances. As far as setting this up, it is super simple. Once you get the base of the chair together and the fabric on it, simply slip the poles into the holes in the back of the chair and attach the fabric by sliding it over the poles. But BE SURE to extend the length of the poles before trying to sit down!! The fabric will sit directly on the base of the chair until you do this. If you try to sit down without doing this, you are going to have a sore tailbone. The chair is comfortable to rest in. I like that it is a high back chair which gives you some neck and head support. It has been very sturdy thus far. Overall I feel like I can give it a 10/10. Really the only drawback is the price; I do feel like it is quite the investment for hiking poles/chair but like I said, if you are a regular hiker/backpacker, the investment is worth it for the reduction in overall weight you are carrying with you.

The only thing is that the QR code sent with package did not work when I scanned it to help me set it up. No video on their website. Just a small picture showing setup. However, I did eventually assemble it. Do not extend the polls until you have the fabric seat attached. Make sure poles are firmly clamped, and make sure they will not slide down. You don't want to sit in it and slide down onto that bar right below your seat. Ouch! Can't wait to take it hiking in a few months. Will update then.

I usually don't bring chairs with me when I'm backpacking, because I rarely bring things that only serve one function due to space considerations. This product was a no brainer, because it serves as both a chair AND a stand alone set of trekking poles. I've historically hiked with a stick because being from New York, I've learned that it is always good to keep a hand free. That being said, I've always envied the folks who fly past me with their trekking poles, offering them superior incline/decline support. This product just so happened to be my first set of trekking poles as well, and I LOVE them. The trekking poles are sturdy, and adjustable to suit your specific height needs. The tips fit in all but the smallest of cracks, and offer stability when dealing with rugged trails and icy/wet rocks. Not to mention the fact that when I arrive at my campsite, I can take those same trekking poles and use them to create a chair to sit on after I set up camp. The chair has these pole parts that slide into place, and you attach the trekking poles to the back, to complete the assembly. It takes no time at all to set up and break it down. If I had to find something I didn't like about it, it would only be the poles attached to the chair fabric. While it is packable and lightweight, the pole assembly takes up more space than I would personally like. BUT, the tradeoff is well worth it. Unless I'm doing some ultralight bushcraft pack, I don't mind taking this with me on more casual outdoor trips. Even if you aren't big into the outdoors, you can keep this in your car and use it pretty much anywhere that you might need a seat. This is a great product.
