Since then I just wind it a few times when I want to use it. **Q: any clue why it is so expensive? is it quality?** A: Yes **Q: Will this charge a Samsung s 8 as the DE 13 dose not ?** A: I've got a Samsung S7 so I don't see why not. However, I wouldn't normally use this method to charge a phone except in an emergency. It takes many hours without ever delivering a full charge. Better to use a power bank. Having said that, the comprehensive list of other features makes this an excellent buy IMO ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Good radio once language set to Engrrish. *by G***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 April 2020* Good little radio with bluetooth and reasonable sound quality for its size. They only annoying thing was the language was set to Chinese, and was rather a pain to find the English setting. It's in Menu, settings (spanner) select 3rd down (menu) then 3rd down again (menu). ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Good little radio (once you get it out of Chinese and into English) *by M***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 April 2022* Good sound quality, able to pull in all local FM & AM stations and a few SW ones just on the rod antenna. Two downsides:- The hand crank doesn't seem to do much to charge the battery and neither does the solar panel. Thankfully it charges on USB and has a removable Nokia type battery which is commonly available.- The radio comes configured in Chinese, so it took me about 10 mins of guesswork to get it into English on the LCD menus. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Good for travelling *by M***O on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 March 2021* Good samall, light, crank charging, solar charging, usb charging, mp3 , mini SD card reader, normal --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/54050478-solar-radio-the-upgrade-version-of-degen-de13-fm-mw](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/54050478-solar-radio-the-upgrade-version-of-degen-de13-fm-mw) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-25*
